We liked it. Although this was not our first choice, nor our second, as both are closed on Tuesday, I did have a bookmark for PBB, and it is OPEN on Tuesday (till 9PM). Yay!
We walk in around 8:15 PM. One other table is occupied. Asian music is playing, a tad loud. Primary coverage is on the (two) TVs. We asked if the music could be turned down and it was. Thank you!
Dining room is a bit sterile, which in our mind, lends to the authenticity. Shiny white floors and tables adorned with sriracha and hoisin.
On this cool night, Thuy was already craving Pho. I could not bring myself to also order Pho, so after looking over the menu, I went for the Bun Bo Hue. I think the picture of Hue over our table had a subliminal influence. I don't consider myself an expert on this dish, but I have been to Hue a couple of times, so I've had the real deal.
Bun Bo Hue is a soup containing rice vermicelli (bún) and beef (bò). Hue is a city in central Vietnam associated with the cooking style of the former royal court. The soup was good, though it was not quite the flavor I was expecting. There was another ingredient, something I can't quite put my finger on (clove I think), that was a little heavy (just a tad too much, but maybe it's a family recipe). I do however recommend it, and would have it again, but would likely try other menu items first. And yes, we do plan to come back.
The pho received Thuy's approval. She said she would have it again and no need to drive down to Haltom City for a fix.
If I was going to quibble on one thing, it was we were never checked on. Waters were not re-filled. We were not asked how things were.
Bottom line: Trip to Haltom City not required for...
Read moreThe food is good for your average Vietnamese restaurant, but service and lack of transparency in reciept leaves you disappointed. I ordered water and was never refilled. I had to ask for more once my glass was completely dry. I ordered a side of rice for my 2 yr old, and they decided on their own to upgrade her to a kids' plate when I told them she doesnt eat much. They forgot to put in my order at all, so I shared the kids' plate with my 2 yo and my 10-year-old finished hers when they realized I didn't have a plate.
I told them not to worry about it we were ready to go, but they rushed it, and since I shared my kids' food, not having mine, they shared with me.
We bused our own table because they never cleared any plates off.
I went to pay, and the bill was more than $10 over what it should have been. I questioned it. The owner said "you ordered wonton?" No.. I did not. Then the waiter says it is because they upgraded my child's play. That should have been $5 more not $10. They did not show me the ticket just stood by the $40 for 1 adult plate, "2" kids plate, water and 1 thai tea.
I won't be back, Ms Saigon in Hurst is much better, and if open, I will make the drive instead. A meal is supposed to be a good experience with your family not an upsetting one.
The owner said sorry about the wait, meaning my food. I told him you you got my order and ticket wrong I wont be back. He laughed...
Read moreOh hell no! This place is RACIST & discriminatory! I'm pissed because I go there too often, but today. NEVER AGAIN! The cowards. First of all, the foods prices got hiked up & doesn't taste fresh, but frozen... I didn't say anything about that, just tried to Dr it up. I take a few bites of pho & 2 bites of my Banh mi and they were both ok, but when I get my to go food with no utensils & then I take 3 chopsticks from the table to go (because I'm taking 3 orders home, for 3 diff people) the owner really questioned me about having 3 chopsticks & caused a scene I was so embarrassed. GET YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN ORDER BECAUSE IT GOES FAR! The waiter had an attitude with me right when I sat down, until I left. Secondly, don't ever give someone a to go plate with no utensils. Third, don't ever argue with me over something that should've been given in the first place! Is this a joke? Then refused to keep the food & refund me! Laughed at me for getting upset & blaming cost of living. Like, ok did I do this to you when I saw your menu prices went up? NO! If you can't afford it or afford to have manners then close down! Rude. NEVER AGAIN. The white people in there got treated to PERFECTION, but this mixed girl can't have chopsticks!? K. N E V E R! A G A I N! & I still want...
