Came to Forth Worth from TN with my son from AR the weekend of the 6 Oct 2019 to send time with my brother to celebrate is upcoming 62nd birthday. It a family tradition of playing pool and enjoying a few cold one. Picked Texas Billiards because it was close to our hotel, when we first arrived a patron walk up to me and warned me that “sometime there are problems here with certain people”. I responded that we weren’t looking for trouble only someplace to play a little pool and have a couple of beers. We were at there about 30min and not one waitress had approached us to ask us what we would like to order. I went to the bar and the bartender look me in the eyes and turned her back to me as if I was invisible. I understand busy but an acknowledgment of me waiting would have been the customer friendly thing to do. It was only when another customer pointed out that I needed assistance did she come to take my drink order. Back at the pool tables we were ignored by the waitresses whom were responsible for the area while they went to wait on other customers that were also playing pool. A waitress from another area finally asked if we needed anything and continued to serve us for the remainder of the night. As we left Texas Billiard the same patron who approached me at the beginning of the night follow us outside and attempted to instigate a altercation. This place make me ashamed to be a Texan and to call Texas my place of birth. I have never in my 60 year on this earth observed such an overt display of racism from not only the staff but manager who allowed this behavior to occur. Shame on you Texas Billiard I will never darken your door again. Thank You to the one young lady who did come to our aid and serve us, sorry I can...
Read moreWas totally ok first few times I went. Good even. Last time, big problem.
I want to believe I just lost my driver's license somewhere, but the last place I saw it was when the bartender here was checking it. He swears he gave it back to me, I don't remember that (I had 2 beers total that night). I remember looking in my wallet when I sat down and noticing the license wasn't there and thinking he must have kept it because of the pool tables.
When I left they accidentally brought me someone else's credit card and I forgot about the ID. I was amazed today when I called and they didn't have it. I don't know for sure it was stolen, but my best guess is it 'disappeared' right there at the corner of the bar.
If I find it I will delete the review if possible... but I looked everywhere, and that is the only place I took it out. After they claimed I had been given it back I even went to 7/11 and checked there.. but I never took it out of my wallet anywhere except right at the bar counter. Uber driver doesn't have it. Tore up my place. I think it was probably misplaced by staff or stolen (by staff or a patron) right there. Maybe since I was from CA and came alone that made me a target somehow?
I would like to believe I just lost it but I just...
Read moreThis place is a great vibe and overall great time. The staff is friendly, the patrons are friendly, and the whole bar has a very good energy about it. They offer specials for different days like free billiards from 8 pm - 10 pm (20:00 - 22:00) with karaoke starting at 9:30 (21:00) on Saturday nights.
The place has some electronic games as well as some classics like shuffle board, foosball, and of course billiards. There's also a cigarette dispenser if you need some smokes. The only reason that I didn't rate it a full 5 stars is the staff can sometimes be slower at the bar. I had to wait a few extra minutes to be served my first drink and after that I would have some small wait times. Nothing too extreme though. They also don't serve food, but do allow you to order from local establishments for food.
I think overall if you're looking for good vibes, a good time, or a good community, look no further than Texas Billiards!
Note: This is a review from 2021 since I was in the DFW area at the time. They may have changed some of the policies like serving food. Please use this review as a loose guide for this...
