First, and likely last time I will ever go here.
The new thing in Food Service is having you make your own food now. Sure you still pay them to do it, but now you have to do everything yourself. It would be one thing if I knew it was a fix it yourself salad bar or something similar, but if I'm paying you $10 to make me a hamburger, and you refuse to put ketchup on it for me, especially if it's to go, and give me a tough time about it even after I explain that I need to drive it can't be fumbling around with ketchup packets, then I'm never coming back to your restaurant. The crazy thing was I wasn't the only person in the place this evening at 7:30 who wasn't thrilled that they made you prep and dress your own burger with ketchup mustard relish or mayonnaise, or God forbid you ask for barbecue sauce. When the second person came over and handed me a burger that still had no ketchup or BBQ sauce on it, and told me for the second time that's not something we do here, I mentioned out loud that they were two steps away from me cooking my own food. I paid them to put my burger together, and I like to have it done, just like the first lady had mentioned that they would do for me. On the third try they managed to get the ketchup actually on the burger, as well as the barbecue sauce on the second hamburger that I had ordered.
Another family who was already eating her food said yeah that's what we have to deal with here. Unfortunately they can deal with that, I don't care how good the food is if that's the attitude that you're taking toward food preparation, after having worked in the Foodservice industry for 11 years myself and having been really looking forward to trying this place after so many good reviews, I'm out. I pay you to make my food, then you make it. That's how it goes.
Panera won't butter my bagel. Chick-fil-A won't put mayonnaise on my chicken sandwich. Enough Frankie's evidently doesn't put ketchup on your hamburger.
I'm sure they won't miss me, but there's three restaurants right there that I won't patronize.
I pay you to make my food, so please make it. Otherwise, please hand me a spatula and an apron and I'll show you how it's done the...
Read moreOutdoor parties are big this time of year, so I'm going to make a couple of posts of popular caterers. Frankie's Family Restaurant is one of them, bringing their famous hot dogs to your backyard, along with hamburgers, onion rings and fries. Staff sets up a grill, double fryer, and folding tables for plates, plastic utensils and toppings.
We went to a birthday party yesterday who used Frankie's for their event, and the food was just what you want on a sunny afternoon. The crowd went through a lot of hot dogs and burgers, and the staff was very friendly and efficient. Definitely a fun option for hosts who don't want to cook for a gathering themselves.
This is the other Frankie's that is a storefront restaurant in an outdoor shopping center. We prefer the original Frankie's stand with outdoor seating but the food is equally good. Even though it was pouring rain and Mothers Day, it was packed when we went in. No seats were available as we waited in line but some opened up by the time we got our order. Two original foot long hot dogs and an order of onion rings. Though they have over a dozen ways to order a hot dog, burgers, lobster rolls, fried shrimp and clams and sandwiches are available, too. Free popcorn. The decoration inside is very amusing. The small eatery is packed from floor to ceiling with old family photos and paintings, nostalgic items from the past, collectibles, patriotic tribute boxes, ceiling...
Read moreI work for a group home company and every Saturday one of my clients goes to Frankie's for lunch. He is disabled and behavioral so it's easier to go through the drive thru to get our food. We are not allowed to order and pay for food together due to money tracking policies, everything needs to be in separate transactions. Today when we went to the drive up to place our order the person taking the order gave me a hard time because I asked for 2 separate order so I can get myself lunch. I was told, "we don't do that, we will make an exception this time but next time you need to come inside" I was trying to explain to the staff that I had a handicapped individual with me and that's why I couldn't go inside. The staff member rudly cut me off and asked for my order. There was no line at the drive thru and no reason to be so rude. I've gone here before and had no issues placing 2 separate orders and definitely never had issues at the Chase Ave location. No other establishments we visit with a drive thru gives us a hard time. They should reevaluate their staff training at...
