Park Row Cafe — Restaurant in Waterbury

I have not been here in close to 5 years. I used to be a regular for lunch when I worked in Waterbury. Husband and I wanted diner food tonight and I said let’s go here we haven’t been in years. So we came out for dinner. Wasn’t allowed to order off the white board menu, had to be on the diner menu for dinner. Not a big deal. Chicken sandwich was dry and my steak and cheese I didn’t like. Threw 3/4 of it away. Husband doused his chicken sandwich in ranch. The steam and cheese tasted like Cajun seasoning in it. I don’t know something was off. My loaded tater tots were good. I ordered a milkshake and smoothie. I was done eating by the time my drinks came. The smoothie was disgusting. Just threw it away. Such a shame because lunch time is so much better. Some locals say the evening people who cook are “running it to the ground” and “making a good place have a bad name.” While in there, I watched a customer get a refund and another customer wait a long time because only part of her order got made and the chef forgot to make it. It wasn’t really busy in there either. I have had better food with a better turn around time during lunch rush. I came home and cooked dinner. So if you go during breakfast or lunch you’ll experience great food, dinner...

I live locally in Vermont and decided I would try breakfast in a different town. Went to the café thinking it was a nice environment with a good vibe. Ended up getting the wrong meal which we did not complain about because the meal was very similar to our original meals. The staff in the back proceeded to yell about the fact that the waiter gave us a wrong meal, making us feel bad. They then went to the customers at the other table asking them if they would be OK if they took our meals.. Making it obvious by glaring at us and making us feel like we did something wrong. The staff also proceeded to apologize to the other table, and never had any kind of apology or comments to us. Very disappointing that this ruined our breakfast out as we attempted to support a local business. I am not one to write reviews, especially bad reviews. But this felt like a deserving place...

I am a big breakfast person and travel for work often, always seeking local spots. This place was the first in a very long time to get such a low rating. To start, I showed up and they didn't have coffee ready. Took about 15 minutes to get it which is unheard of for breakfast joint. That was actually the least of the problems. The woman that showed up started clipping her nails in the back, then walked behind the count biting the corners of her nails. I could hear her nail clippers at work and then she comes out finishing them off with her mouth. She then brought my super greasy and cold meal (coagulating on top - see pic), brought me silverware with her bare hands, and had to find napkins.
