I was not expecting much from a restaurant located in the middle of a giant mall, but boy did it deliver! The atmosphere is lively and the decor is very well thought out and definitely conveys the atmosphere of New Orleans in it's style. We came as a group of five and although the table was pretty small, the server was very attentive. Although they stated clearly that plates are small/medium as they are made to share, honestly most of them would easily work for me as a customer if I was there on my own. Here's the quick glimpse on our dishes: - Fried chicken - moist, tender, crispy - very good! - Shrimp & Grits - the highligh of the night, it was SOOOO good. Really good seasoning, texture of grits, and served on a hot plate. Yum! - Crab cake was a divider of our group with one person stated it is overpowered by truffle, for me it's still a very good, elevated crab cake. - Burrata with peaches was a summer delight - fresh and perfect mix of sour, cheesy and sweet - Corn was a favorite of some and a play on southern streetfood, It was ok, but way too salty for me Overall it was a great experience and 5 dishes for 5 people was just enough and with all that great food on the table the check was less than $100, which was super nice.

Really bummed that I didn’t like the food here! I lived in New Orleans for over two years and was really looking forward some good southern style food! The wings basically had Italian breadcrumbs and pepper as the seasoning, were not very good and nothing you would actually find in New Orleans. They were also $17! The biscuits were ok, the glaze on top was good but not worth $16 for glorified red lobster style biscuits. I was very shocked that the food wasn’t good because there are a lot of good reviews. I honestly think that the owner probably went on vacation to Louisiana and was inspired, but actually doesn’t know any cajun or creole people etc so therefore the entrees here aren't an accurate depiction of New Orleans style cuisine. There wasn’t even any gumbo on the menu, and that is the most famous dish from Louisiana! I guess most people from New England would not know that…the only southern things I noticed on the menu besides the biscuits were catfish, the chicken/waffles combo and beignets. This is not an authentic restaurant and the overpriced food was mediocre at best. Service was ok but restaurant was really loud inside. I’ve included picture of food in take out box for reference.

I could go on about the problematic usage of New Orleans “Voodoo” here that is literal cultural appropriation and racial stereotyping against Haitian Vodou and New Orleans Vodou traditions alike. Found the naming of “Voodoo Cocktails” and “voodoo doll” imagery (they don’t exist in Haitian Vodou; and using it is just participating in Hollywood racist dialogue) extremely tiresome (nor would I be the first) but that’s on the owners who probably won’t listen nor even acknowledge the problematic nature of their brand’s imagery. Now about the food. The fried chicken thighs were dry and meh, not quite the best nor were they crispy (I’d say Popeyes has better fried chicken than here). Even with the sauce, the dryness of the chicken lacked flavor and was a drastic contrast to the sauce. You could say the chicken was suitably crispy for someone with braces but for the average Joe, this was hardly fried chicken. The beignets were alright (unless you’re someone who likes them on the light brown side) and service was okay. Not my favorite restaurant nor should be surprised about Southern style cuisine in Boston but it was okay.

I can not believe how disappointed a was. I had been dying to try out his place after seeing the cookbook on Amazon. The atmosphere was ok, but the music was so loud my friend couldn’t hear me. I made a brunch reservation more than four days ahead of time. I arrived on time and my party was promptly seated…. In front of the entrance!!! Ok, fine. The waiter Connor I believe, approached the table and tools our drink order. We waited more than five minutes but, okay it was busy. We placed our order and were informed that the food is brought out when it is ready, not in a coordinated fashion so that we could all eat at the same time. We were also told that it was ‘tapas’ style so we should order for the table. Ok, I’m game, sounds good. The food arrived and might I say, I was underwhelming at best. My friend ordered two over easy eggs, home fries and bacon. They brought individual plates for each item making everything look like an afterthought. I ordered the goat cheese hash with eggs, and received a mini fry pan (think apple crisp serving fan) with has browns, maybe 1/2 scrambled eggs, sauce and peppers. The taste was good but it was a children’s portion and not worth $15. After the waiter dropped off our food, he didnt come back to the table until we waved him over. We did that several times. Ok, so beignets. I don’t know where they got the picture on the website, but what we received looked like burnt moose skat with a side of dipping sauce. I’ve never had one before, and frankly am not interested in trying them again. They were burned outside and doughy inside, how is that possible. Anyway, I would skip it. The bill was just under $100 and we left disappointed and...

The owner, Jason Santos is best known for being on the TV shows Bar Rescue and Hell's Kitchen. I didn't have high expectations of this place due to being disappointed at other celebrity chef driven restaurants. However, the food, cocktails, service and ambiance were all excellent! We were a party of four. We ordered approximately 7 tapas and an appetizer (which was a bit too much for 4 people) and most exceeded our expectations. As other reviewers noted, the biscuits were delicious, but our favorite was the blackened octopus. It had the perfect texture. Others that I highly recommend are the Cajun grilled swordfish, baked brie and the BBQ Shrimp. The street corn was good but not a wow, and the mac and cheese was a bit bland. We started off with 1/2 dozen oysters which were good but not worth the price. Two of us had the sazarac cocktail which was excellent and the other had some type of spicy margarita which was ok. The server frequently checked in on us and others came by to clear our table in a timely manner after we finished a plate. I plan to definitely go back to this restaurant again! One thing to note, open table shows the outdoor seating area is heated, but this is not the case. They just have a small fire pit that does nothing to heat the area. So I don't recommend making a reservation in the outdoor section in the...

This is a restaurant that has given up on any concept of quality. Food was mediocre at best and the service was awful. When we arrived the restaurant was half full at most and yet we were seated next to the door the waitstaff used to enter and exit the kitchen. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to offer us drinks, I went to the bar and got the drinks myself. After several more minutes I went to the hostess and told her if someone didn’t come to our table quick we would leave. A waiter came over and we ordered food. The food arrived eventually but not all together. The food was below average at best and not worth what they were charging. I ordered beignets and coffee. The coffee was cold and the beignets were over cooked. The wait staff were incapable of tackling a half full restaurant and didn’t seem to care. This was our second visit to this restaurant and it was a complete about face from the first visit. This restaurant has given up on all things customer related and quality is long dead here. On a day like Mother’s Day you would expect a restaurant to be packed but this place was less than half full and it has the hallmarks of a place in decline. Do not bother going to Buttermilk & Bourbon unless disappointment is what you’re after. I would happily give 0 stars...
