Sunday night. 6:30pm. This place is packed? Yes! Then you know the food is going to be good. Three people were in line as we walked through the door--all waiting for carry out! Every booth was full except for one. But we would have waited anyhow.
The three of us started off with an order of Crab Rangoon (4) and a couple of Sapporos (Japanese beer). I wish we had more Crab Rangoon, however, there would have been no time to eat them as our sushi was up in a hurry! We had one of their chef special rolls, the Angry Bird; salmon, tuna, and yellowtail topped with a mango, avocado, wasabi, and soy pepper sauce. Again, wish we had more then the three pieces!
But along with the Angry Bird, we ordered an item not on the online menu and only on the in house and To-Go menu. The Regular Party Platter, which as you can see from the image is huge!
There were 10 pieces of sushi (salmon, tuna, yellowtail) and 10 pieces of sashimi (nigirizushi, tuna and something delicious). Then there was a California roll, a shrimp tempura roll, a rainbow roll, along with some ginger, soy sauce, and some "wasabi" on the side. We did have to ask for more ginger as we faithfully used it to cleanse our pallet in-between each different type of food.
Each item tasted fresh and was exquisitely displayed and precisely prepared. We finished with some Junmai Daiginjo Sake Platinum near the end of the meal which was the perfect touch to the end of the meal and as we casually visited in the now mostly empty restaurant an hour and a half later.
You have to go. A great place to eat great food, and if you are new, the wait staff will help you get acquainted with the food and assist you...
Read moreGreat service! We went on a Sunday night and it was not busy. We instantly got sat to our table. The lady who sat us was friendly. The place was quite small but it had great interior design. Although, we did not sit at the bar, they have one. I bet it will be great to have fresh hibachi from the guy behind the counter.
To start, we had ordered gyoza and the hand rolled, spicy crabmeat roll. The gyoza was fabulous! It came with a sweet type of soy sauce. The crabmeat roll was delicious also. We had to ordered another serving (haha!).
For our meals, I had ordered the udon soup combination (beef, chicken, and shrimp). It was served with a fried egg on top. The soup was bland so I had to adjust it with salt. The meal overall was very tasty.
My dad had ordered the steak bento box. He said it was superb. He also got the side of clear miso soup with it. It was okay.
Surprised to see a sushi place in the Midwest. Sake House was enjoyable and it...
Read moreI have been going her since I was in kindergarten. I absolutely love this place. The staff is always so friendly, and the food is amazing. I am an EXTREMELY picky eater, but the food here is just too good to pass up. My usual order is all appetizers, and I have never felt judged by the staff while ordering. The food is made fresh, and it is always hot (unless is is purposely a cold dish 🙂). In the last few years I started getting my usual order (spring rolls and edemame) with crab Rangoon, and it is amazing. While the wait for the food can take a little bit, it is definitely worth it. I would rather wait a bit for freshly made food than having to wait 10 minutes for something thrown in a microwave. I feel like the prices for the food are fair, as it is well made. The atmosphere is amazing, and I will definitely keep going....
