Food is good for what it is. However even if the restaurant doesn't look too crowded, if it's about half full don't expect your food for about half an hour at least. The weird thing, my server, who had just taken an order at a big table came directly to my table, it was just me, and made a point of saying "I'll try to get your order in before this big one." SHE still had their ticket in her book at the same time as mine. In the end, their food came out first and she came to my table after she saw me looking around frustrated and confused, I was about to call her over anyway, and told me my order did not get in before theirs... like, um... ok, what exactly went on back there in the kitchen, then? You had both are tickets at the same tickets? I just had a veggie omelet and no hash browns, no pancakes... Anyway, I wasn't expecting super fast service, but being in the restaurant for over an hour for a single omelet in a restaurant that was half full? what exactly is going on back there in the kitchen? And didn't the server have any power to say, hey please take care of this omelet first? Especially since she made a point of telling me? I would have been less frustrated if the server had said nothing to me about getting my...
Read moreFirst: the food was good (better than Perkins) and the service friendly as mentioned earlier. But there’s two big things holding this place back right now: 1) lunch service speed and 2) poor signage/outdoor maintenance. I went here for lunch with a community leader because Sake House was still closed for dining and this place was just down the road. From the road, the Scrambled Yolk looks like a shut down Perkins because the gardens are choked with weeds and there is NO signage on the building. Once inside: surprise! It’s a nice family diner; basically a well-maintained and clean Perkins. So two reasonably well-dressed middle aged people sat down just after noon on a weekday. That alone should have been a signal that (unlike the mostly elderly crowd) this table was on a clock and needed to get back to work after lunch. Instead, slow roll drinks, menus, silverware, and we finally got our order in at :20 past the hour. Food came out in a reasonable time but then we had to track down the checks (I LIKE places where they drop food AND check during lunch) and chase payment, not clocking out until after one, when both of us really should have been back in the office...
Read moreIf you like dining in restaurants that remind you of the imminent death in nursing homes, this place is for you! My brother and I arrived here at 1:15 to get eggs and toasts. The woman working the counter wearing a yellow shirt rolled her eyes when we walked in and let out a huge sigh. We were seated at our table by an older woman who also seemed annoyed at our presence and rudely asked if we needed water (yes please?). The younger woman in yellow was our waitress and seemed more annoyed at our small order. My brother and I finished our toast and eggs by 1:30 and waited until 1:43 to receive our check. During those 13 minutes yellow shirt girl tried to help an elderly couple pay their bill but she couldn’t “find it” in the system and had to call someone else. She then came to collect the plates from the table next to us and then complained about the elderly couple to the customers! My brother and I walked up to the counter to pay our bill and she let out another huge sigh. We gave her a $12 tip on a $10.43 bill and then her attitude changed. Absolutely ridiculous, will...
