I wanna like this place so bad. It's got style, it's got great food...
But a good meal here? It cost me and my dad forty five freakin' dollars.
Now, I'm a freak— I order a five patty burger with just cheese and ketchup. You can even order this kinda burger online— sorta. You'll probably end up ordering a triple instead.
How'd we spend forty dollars? Well, the drinks are four bucks per, and each additional patty on a double is FIVE EXTRA DOLLARS. Considering most burgers are doubles and cost ten bucks, this makes sense.
Y'might be asking though, "five patties, what the hell?" It's because the patties are actually super thin. They use these pucks of meat which flatten out big time. Delicious and greasy, but also, very shy on the actual meat. When I was younger, the place next to Waterbury was the one I went to, and a quintuple there was twelve bucks. Got one every week. But I'd gamed the system long enough and eventually the price went up to fourteen bucks. I stopped coming.
Now? The same burger's like nearly eighteen dollars. Wow.
So my dad's meal, which was just a double with a drink and fries, was fifteen bucks. Mine was almost twenty-five.
The price is reasonable if you like the doubles on their own, but they aren't filling for their price. A one person meal at a fast food place shouldn't be twenty dollars. especially not with the competition in this area.
I'd consider this a luxury burger place, not a competitive one. You can get much more meat for much less by just cooking up some ground sirloin yourself.
Also, without asking, they trashed our receipt so we couldn't even get the exact breakdown. My dad was pretty sure he got scammed, even if I was pretty sure it was just highway robbery!
They got some dang good...
Read moreIf you are looking for a place where you can feel relaxed with a staff that serves you delicous food for a perfect price, head to Wayback Burgers of Watertown, CT. This restaurant takes in every part of a good burger place, and puts it all into one. Wayback doesn't have the stress and uncertainty of most fast food, but it also doesn't make itself out to be a fancy overpriced dine-in restaurant. The staff is very calm and extremely kind to everyone that walks in. I have been going to Wayback Burgers for months, and not once I have ever seen someone complain about their order being wrong. However, I genuinely believe that if they did get an order wrong, they would not hesitate to make things right and maybe even offer money back. Wayback also has extremely fair pricing. For the amazing quality of the food, it is surprising it doesn't cost more. This review is 5/5 because when thinking of what to write and how to review the restaurant, I seriously could not think of a single problem with Wayback. That illustrates how most would feel about this place. Problem-free. And that sentence itself is the only time the word "problem" could ever be used...
Read moremy order was completely wrong and found this out after driving home. No manager on site and the 4 people working there could not get one order right. I ordered a burger with 7 toppings, they only put one. Seriously, if making burgers is ALL YOU DO, you should be able to handle it. It also took 3 phone calls (due to being disconnected 2x) to get through. It's so frustrating when these corporations hire kids, then fail to train them properly. My advice is eat your burgers at a local place, put the money back in the pockets of people in the community and not the pocket of big corporations who clearly do not know what they are doing or seem to care. The burgers are only average at best anyway. I have...
