Really solid food considering everything else in Waterville is closed after 2pm on a Sunday. Portions are good and the half portion options for thier appetizers is more than enough for one person. Chili is advertised as “award winning” which is a stretch but it was very good none the less. Complete lack of any spice but it was very hearty and beef-heavy where most pubs cheap out on the amount of beef. The “cup” size was a medium sized crock and a great value. Very happy I didn’t get the bowl as it would have been too much. The fried cheddar balls were delicious and the marinara that came with it was very good. My wife got the peppered pig sandwich which she enjoyed but as with the chili she said it lacked some seasoning and or a good sauce. I got a standard burger which was very average. Not great, not bad, but serviceable. The beef in the chili tasted very fresh where as I believe the beef for the burger was frozen and not fresh. The food was 3.5ish stars. They don’t bill themselves as specializing in BBQ food so I can’t be critical that the bbq style food wasn’t anything special. The service however, was top notch. The outside seating is on the other side of the building from the kitchen and indoor part of the restaurant. There was just one young lady handling the 7-8 seated tables on the patio and she was lightning quick considering she had no electronic system to send tickets back to the kitchen. Drinks and food came very quickly despite her being over burdened with tables and having to go a considerable distance to pick up orders from inside. She was playing hostess, runner, and busser for the outdoor section and was impeccable. If anyone from the business reads this, she was your outdoor employee on Sunday afternoon 7/30. She needs a raise. The only significant negative we experienced was the inventory/menu management. The kitchen was out of/unable to fulfill 35-50% of the menu. I feel this is an oversight considering there is almost no other dining establishment in town open after 1-2pm on a Sunday so it would seem as though they should be prepared to handle pretty much the entire towns clientele for late lunch/early dinner. They were out of simple things like gravy and pizza dough and many meats. All and all the food was slightly above average, there’s some kitchen buying management issues, but the service was exceptional and the price was fair....
Read moreIt's unfortunate that I am having to write this but I feel it is necessary. It is Sunday August 16th, I was in the mood for some good bar food, generally this place is a sure thing. Generally until tonight. I called at 7:15 and placed an order for my go to sandwich, Havana with sweet potato fries. I should have known, based on the interaction on the phone with whomever took the order, I should have chosen differently. I was told the wait time for my order and arrived to pick up my order. Upon walking in to the bar, where I was instructed to pick my order up, one patron was sitting at the and in the dining room were two small parties. One of which included, based on familiarity of the restaurant were two employees, still in work attire, one of whom was having her hair braided by another employee. In my opinion extremely unprofessional and generally not a good look. After standing at the bar for around 3-4 minutes was finally acknowledged by who I am assuming was a server. Not greeted with a hello or how may I help you but "Are you here for take out and whats the name". Exemplary customer service. I paid for my order and left, dumbfounded as to what I had just experienced. Once I got home and opened my order, I was extremely underwhelmed by what I saw, but didn't really care at that point to call and complain. This was until I was about 3 bites in to my sandwich and pulled a long black hair out of my sandwich. Needless to say based on my experience in the restaurant and the quality of the food and the extra hair that came with it, for free none the less, I will NEVER be spending any more of my money in this...
Read moreHonestly I have never written a Google review... But as business fellow owners and service industry workers I feel like I should. Our first time here and we were enjoying ourselves at first. Our drinks, wings and potatoe chips came out fairly quickly and were good. As soon as our appetizers arrived we ordered our meals..... I got the crusted haddock wrap with sweet potatoe fries and my boyfriend got the club, easy food we thought (since we had our 9month old baby with us). Thankfully our daughter is a fantastic baby... we waited 2 hours... no refills on drinks except when my boyfriend had to go and find our waitress to ask for water. Also as we were trying to figure out where our food was another table was seated next to us and the waitress that was dealing with them was complaining about other customers who had left earlier and had complained about waiting for so long. She clearly did not feel that it was a big deal that the table was upset that they had to wait for food for forty five minutes, She felt as if they were being they were the ones being the issue... as she said "oh well they wont be back". After the two hours of waiting I finally asked where our food had been. Our waitress proceeded to tell me there was still 3 more orders in front of us.... I'm so confused to how this is even possible since when we arrived it was 1230 and the place wasn't even busy. So now I sit in my car at 3:00 with our not so great sandwiches, soggy fries and a $76.41 tab... Disappointed is being nice. I can honestly say we unfortunately probably won't...
