Glad we stopped to walk this historic bridge. Found the plaque with more history on the Waterville side of the river by the gazebo. We parked on the Winslow side of the river, being our first time to Waterville we didn’t quite know our way around. Realized after we walked across the bridge there is plenty of free parking that is much more accessible for visitors on the Waterville side. It’s evident that most visitors understand to park there as there were many more padlocks on the side of the bridge closest to the parking lot. But we enjoyed the walk nonetheless. It’s a neat history of the town. What a different world to walk a bridge to work each day and pay a toll to do it, and it seemed like the toll keepers lived on site to run it. The original toll was one cent when it opened in 1901, but they raised it to two cents only 2 years later after storms caused it to have major repairs. The toll stayed in place until the...

I like how they restored it safer doesn't rock as much and now they have a padlock lovers thing that's cute you lock it on the gate bangs and throw the key in the water supposedly it forever Bond your Love with your loved one. The land is beautiful n the view on water I nice n it's kept clean. It's just lil scarry with the people living dwn there in woods now a daz it's just u don't know who u can trust to be safe going for a walk den there even. I feel bad for homeless idk why they don't take the old building by wtvl bridge n make another shelter getem off streets getem in programs to help getem off drugs. CUPLE of my younger family members r in that situation n it's sad cuz they do things that they don't normally do n it's like we don't see them ever anymore unless there in jail need bail lol I wish the best for them all I do. God bless them...

We attended Waterville Rocks outdoor concert in the spacious park beside Two Cent Bridge on a warm, cloudy summer evening. Maine singer-songwriter Chris Ross started about 7:15, followed by The Weight Band around 8:45. A well-behaved crowd of 300-400 people brought their own chairs and blankets. There were two food trucks, an ice cream vendor and beer truck. The stage has a good sound system but terrible lighting. Portapotties in the parking lot. We thought the event was well managed except for the lengthy wait times and irritating recorded music used before the event and in the interval. It would be wise to program recordings aligned to the scheduled...
