Hiawatha Sports Bar — Restaurant in Wausau

Went to Hiawatha restaurant to get a nice homey meal. Nothing here is too expensive but you get quality food that has the right balance across substance, taste, quality meats, and texture.

They ran out of the Reuben so we god the pulled pork sandwich. Nice "fall off the bone" 🍖texture with bbq sauce, Cole slaw, pickles, onions, and a good butter bun. Subbed for onion rings because why not 🤷‍♀️

And of course, you cant miss out the cheese curds 🧀 and beer in Wisconsin! Cheese curds were beer battered with smokey anchor chilli dust + ranch . It gave a nice garlic-like taste, and super smokey which I love. More than what you usually get & large chunks as well.

For beer we got the Capital amber and the Third Space nice day : @thirdspacebrewing is a new beer that's new in the area (from Madison). Has a slight grapefruit taste to it and made with a new crypto hop. Super refreshing and not too heavy

Got to give a HUGE shout out to our server Allison F. She was amazing, I don't think I've had a nicer, more communicative, and intuitive waiter than her 😂

What a great meal . Would just say , don't bother to get the dessert. We got the cheesecake which was made in house but couldn't finish it because it was just sweet (no cheese or other flavors). They had another cobbler that was mango flavored , which might've been a better option....

We ordered the fish fry and an extra shrimp diner. While the fish was perfect, beer battered and seasoned and cooked perfectly, the shrimp was a miss. The breading which was beer battered was gummy and the shrimp undercooked. We will definitely order the fish again, but skip the deep fried shrimp. Maybe order it grilled as they offer it 4 different ways.

The coleslaw was tasty and tangy. Tarter sauce was as you'd expect. We ordered fries and potato salad. The fries where thin and unique. The only downside to them being thin was that they were dry and not crispy nor salted. The potato salad was sweeter and perfectly seasoned.

One annoying thing is they dont have menus. You have to use the menu off their website on your phone. This I found to be a joke and was a reason I dropped a star in my rating. For the higher prices for your food, go print some paper menus on your laser printer. Due to this BIG ANNOYANCE, I doubt we will be back.

Our waitress was great and bubbled with personality so that was good. The strong cocktails poured coupled with her great service made my annoyance over the non existant menu less,...

I stopped in to get lunch to go and was given a pile of slop in several containers tied up tight in a plastic bag to go. I should of had them to show me the food that I ordered before leaving the restaurant but I did not and was very disappointed with a very threw together sloppy preparation of a meal that they cooked for me and charged 40 dollars for and was not worth it. I ordered a chicken sandwich that did not look like chicken, not taste like it, and half of the crust missing, cheese curds that came with only 5 smashed burnt cheese curds in a huge container, half cooked over seasoned fries that I asked for no seasoning on, a very uncooked leaking suppose to be apple pie that was not cooked or have apples in it,all three in containers in such the sloppiest way that would make you request your money back like I am, Can you please refund me for this unedible meal that I had to put in the garbage because it was prepared only to go in the garbage along with the melted ice cream I was given.
