My husband and I visited Jabena with 5 of our family and friends who were in town for my birthday today. There was only one person working, so we tried to exercise patience and empathy for him. However, we waited for 50 minutes for our food and drinks. We watched another person walk in and leave in about 5 minutes with two coffees while we were still waiting for our items. Some of our order was incorrect so things had to be remade. My coffee was warm and not as ordered, so I left it on the table. One item was replaced with another pastry that was not wanted with no refund as promised. It was disappointing because we could have enjoyed a sit down meal for the less money and time ($80 for 4 of us, plus another $45 for the others in our group). It was not how I envisioned starting my birthday with our guests. What’s even more upsetting is that this was our second attempt at giving Jabena’s a chance. We experienced the same issues when they first opened, but had hoped that they had things together now. If you are unable to provide timely, consistent service, I think it would be a common courtesy to turn people away and encourage them to go elsewhere. For $80, I ended up making my own coffee after wasting an hour that could have been spent with our other visitors. Although the barista was very friendly and the atmosphere is inviting, unfortunately, we will...
Read moreI just had the most delightful experience at Jebena Cafe in Waxhaw! I'd been wanting to try it for a while, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It's not a huge place, but it has a cozy vibe that makes you feel right at home. I went for a lunchtime visit, and there were a few people catching up with friends over steaming cups of coffee, while others were focused on laptops.
Speaking of coffee, that's definitely the star of the show here. I opted for a traditional Ethiopian brew, and it was unlike any coffee I'd ever had before. Rich, complex, and aromatic – it was a true flavor explosion. They even have the whole brewing ceremony on display, which was fascinating to watch.
For food, I went with the chicken salad croissant. It sounds simple, but the flavors were fantastic. The chicken salad was perfectly seasoned and packed with fresh ingredients, and the croissant itself was buttery and flaky. The portions were generous, and I left feeling happy and satisfied.
The staff at Jebena Cafe were friendly and helpful. They were happy to answer my questions about the menu and the coffee brewing process. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I can't wait to go back and try some of their other offerings. If you're looking for a unique and delicious coffee experience in Waxhaw, Jebena Cafe is definitely worth...
