I came in with my husband and toddler half hour before closing time. We were actually trying to go to the Korean restaurant next door but it was closed. So we decided to try the sushi here. My husband ordered the King Dragon roll and I ordered sashimi and eel roll with avocado. We didn't order a separate dish for our toddler because we were going to share the cooked eel and rice and avocado from the eel roll and our miso soup. To our surprise, the nice waitress offered a small bowl of soupy rice for him on the house. He loved it! She also included a small plate of edamame for us on the house. Then when we were done, she gave us a complimentary California sushi roll with orange and mildly spicy crab meat. It was delicious. Then with the check she offered another complimentary dish, dessert of 2 mochi ice creams. The food was fresh which is a must for sushi and delicious. What topped off our first experience at Takei Bamboo Sushi was the special pampering and thoughtfulness even when we walked in close to closing time. The decor was simple but pleasant and clean. We're definitely going back!
PS: In terms of my overall sushi taste ranking it's an 7-8 out of 10. The best sushi I ever had is at a small but very crowded "hole in the wall" Japanese sushi restaurant, Tomoe, on Thompson St in Greenwich Village, NYC. For NJ area, Takei sushi is certainly one...
Read moreI have no idea what anyone above ate or liked but your are all nuts. This was by far one of the worst sushi places i have ever been to. Besides the place being a complete dump, the shrimp shumai were hard and rubbery. The kani salad was one of the worst ive had. And the rolls had no taste to them. When the owner asked me what was wrong i told them politely that it just wasn't edible.. she asked if it was my first time which i confirmed and she did nothing to accommodate me except charge me full price. You would think they would want to earn business but clearly they dont care. Either way if your looking for sushi in the wayne area stay clear. Nori, Taka, and Lee's Sushi are 1,000 times better. Your actually better off with mall sushi from the willowbrook mall right down the road. place...
Read moreWe found this little spot when we were in search of GOOD sushi without the need to drive 45 minutes. To our surprise we found a small sushi spot in Wayne near our offices on Rt 23 with great reviews and ratings. We decided to try it out. We'll this is now our second time here and they've impressed again. The fish is fresh and great plating with wonderful flavors. You need to try and I mean NEED to try their Beef Dumplings. I mean I've never had better dumplings, so crispy and amazing flavor. They are made in a way I've never had and will return for them time and time again. The place is quaint and nice with amazing plants everywhere. The staff is great and courteous and we've enjoyed both our visits with delight and wanting to return. If you're in the area you need to...
