April 13 & 14 . . . As Spring’s temperatures rise, folks find their favorite Ice Cream spot!

Grandkids & weather forced us to visit twice!

We discovered & enjoy Willy’s Ice Cream . . . upon moving to VA ! Founder William (Bill) McClung inspired devotee of ice cream opened this shop with his wife in 1995. Then purchased by his daughter, Carrie in 2012. A family business with deep connections to the community. . . often support Boys & Girls Clubs, and local fundraisers in the Waynesboro community! The family continues the goodwill after Bill McClung passed in 2015.

It’s Soft Served Ice cream with Vanilla, Chocolate, and a special featured flavor every few days. Closed on Mondays, they serve lots of folks the other 6 days! The lines grow around lunch, and after dinner. . . at one end of a shopping mall parking lot. There’s plenty of standing room outside this small shop! No bathrooms, lots of parking spaces!

Come out and enjoy a cone, or cup of soft serve ice cream, shakes, banana splits, and sundaes! There are a few picnic tables for seating folks, lick fast on the hot days!

What’s the Difference??

Ice Cream: made w/ milk, cream, sugar, maybe egg yolks, air added for light texture, 10% - 25% fat

Frozen Custard: made w/ more milk than cream, egg yolks, less air, thicker texture less fat 4% to 9%

Sherbet/Sherbert: mix w/ fruit juice, fruit purée, less milk & cream, less fat & calories

Sorbet: Dairy Free ! Made with fruit juice/ fruit purée for Vegan & Lactose intolerant

Gelato: Italian ice cream made w/ more milk & sugar, less air, creamy texture

The best local milkshake place. They do different flavors other places will not dare and that's what makes them unique. They make all of their ice cream options a milkshake. When Willy's is open you all need to stop have instead of Kline's or Willy's. The only "downside" is they can get busy in the evenings because they are so popular. Great customer service. The folks behind the counter work extremely hard and give a customer service smile even when they have so many people...

Amazing! The Wiley’s employees in Waynesboro, VA working there are very courteous & super efficient & have a winning customer-oriented attitude! I’m impressed! Best-tasting Icecream I’ve ever had & the menu has a variety of creatively-made Icecream Labels & milk shakes & parfaits. All I can remark is “WOW! Out of this World taste & texture!” Thank you staff for your diligence. &Canine-friendly too...
