Years ago, at A Taste of Weatherford, we wandered through the usual suspects: food trucks, barbecue, and Chicken Express, when we stumbled upon a booth serving sandwiches. It seemed routine, even forgettable. But the flavors and textures were anything but. After several returns to the mysterious sandwich booth, we were left wondering how a sandwich could steal the entire show.
At the time, there was no name, no branding, no truck or restaurant — just unforgettable sandwiches.
Fast forward to lunch with an old friend, guided by a Google review to a place called Lenny’s Local. The 80s theme was quirky and fun, and the hole-in-the-wall vibe felt promising. I ordered the "Slayer" with jalapeño mac and cheese. From the first crunch of the house-made bread, I was transported back to that Taste of Weatherford moment. Each bite of the jalapeño-broccoli slaw and tender pork only deepened my love for this place. We later learned of the house cantina wing sauce, which is also incredible. This is now my go-to place for lunch, especially with unassuming out-of-towners. The reactions are priceless!
Let it be known: the best sandwich in Weatherford is found at Lenny’s Local, and it is not...
Read moreYet again, another hidden gem of Weatherford. If you didn’t know it was there, you would surely miss it. Hidden away in a small corner of historic downtown, Lenny’s local is changing the sandwich game. The large menu will keep you coming back for more. The classic rock/hair metal theme is fun and refreshing. There are plenty of things to look at while you wait, and they keep a wide range of entertainment on the multiple tv’s.
I had the Slayer, which was absolutely amazing. I practically had to force myself to finish it because I was SO full but it was SOOOO GOOD! The Mac and cheese was absolutely fantastic!
My partner had the Yellow Submarine, which looked amazing, only we had asked for no ham and to sub for extra of the other meats and it came out pretty much all ham. Super disappointing. For this, unfortunately I cannot give a five star review. Sort of ruined my partners dining experience, as he cannot eat ham… the serve didn’t seem to care much either and said nothing when she saw the giant pile of ham left on the plate.
For $25 + tip, you can get 2 amazing meals, but just be sure your order is correct. Food =...
Read moreGreat little sandwich shop. Tucked back just off the Weatherford Square's southeast corner. This place reminds me of going to Dallas' Deep Ellum and Elm Street. Very nostalgic atmosphere for the old school Rockers. Classic Rock Band posters line the walls with great old school Rock coming from the overhead speakers. Food has been great each time I've visited. From the Dreamweaver to the Yellow Submarine Sandwich, they don't miss a thing. Let me recommend the jalapeño cheesesticks delivered hot and fresh from the fryer with just enough spicey kick to require the variety of dipping sauces. Wings definitely bring the menu to its pentacle with just enough choices for coating them in a wet or dry seasoning. Salad choices are in abundance, with options to top them off with chicken strips seasoned in whichever wing sauce you would like. Will be returning soon to expand my experience....
