Great atmosphere. Great food. Service is great. Come here on occasion with family for special occasions. Went last night with aunt and had the mushroom crepes - absolutely DIVINE! BUT...
Went back by myself this evening just to have the crepes. Bill was $9.83 and gave the waitress a $20. Waitress returns with $10 even for change. Thought she’d forgotten the change or that it might have fallen out or maybe simply been forgotten in the hustle and bustle. After awhile it became clear she wasn’t returning to the table. Flagged the hostess and let her know I was waiting for the rest of my change and she said she’d let my waitress know. After another minute or so, I flagged down my waitress myself to let her know the change was short.
She informed me it was Cyrano’s policy to round when making change. Felt really uncomfortable Cyrano’s felt comfortable helping itself to my cash, even if it is just $0.17. For some of us, yes, every penny does count.
She asked if I wanted the rest of my change, and returned with a quarter instead of $0.17. This made me feel equally weird as she was giving me money that wasn’t mine.
I flagged down a different waitress, cause at this point I just wanted my change so I could leave, and the second waitress very warmly told me it was fine and not to feel weird about the quarter, and said something about them not keeping a lot of change around.
Left a $2 tip and left (decided not to round the total down to $9.75...)
I’m 36 and this is the first time I’ve ever been to a restaurant that doesn’t have change smaller than quarters. It’s also the first time I’ve ever been to a restaurant that helps itself to the customers’ money (presumably for their own convenience???)
The mushroom crepes were so good was thinking about making it a regular dinner haunt, as I live nearby, but I really just can’t get behind a policy that entitles itself to my money just to streamline workflow. Won’t be...
Read moreReally disappointed. We used to go here bi-annually with our huge group of friends for their birthdays. We spent hours ordering drinks and talking and frankly I looked forward to it every year. This year was ruined.
A waitress spilled an entire tray of drinks (including hot coffee) on my friends child. My friends child is also on the spectrum. After 20 minutes of trying to cool his skin with burn cream and aloe and whatever they had in a first aid kit - it wasn’t working. He was in so much pain and inconsolable. The evening ended for us friends.. while they rushed him to the ER. My friends child suffered from 1st and 2nd degree burns and was wrapped like a mummy. When we friends stuck around to ask for their insurance or forms for an incident report, they gave us a managers card.
Come to find out weeks later, they aren’t taking responsibility for what happened. They aren’t paying for our friends medical bills. (Our friends were just going to leave it at that - however cyranos chose not to take responsibility for their employees actions. And now they have to hire a lawyer to sort it out.)
I have no idea the extent of bills and hospital visits for my friends. I did however take my daughter to a salon to get her hair and nails done before. While this is small and not a big deal in highsight. (The salon experience alone was fun for my daughter and I, but I dropped $95 and they caked her hair in hairspray. The experience alone wasn’t worth the money, her pillow and bedroom got a good view of her hair..) they have no idea the ramifications of their employees actions on the entire group of friends. Some of our friends hired sitters (I wish I would have - I dragged my baby and preschooler through that mess)
Unprofessional to say the least. As a business owner myself, always always always mend bridges. They lost some serious business form our entire...
Read moreThe food was good and the presentation very attractive and appealing, with some unique offerings. That said, service matters. This was a special parent/child occasion. We were seated promptly, being one of only two other parties in the restaurant at that time. There also appeared to be four waitresses. We ordered an appetizer, telling the waitress we would order our entree once the appetizer was served. She served the appetizer, stating she would be right back for our entree order. And we waited. And waited, my adult child expressing the desire to leave. Our waitress was seen at the bar several times chatting with other waitresses and drinking a beverage. And we waited. She finally turned but approached a newly seated couple at the next table, ignoring us and turning away after taking their order. We finally waved her down to take our order and we asked for a box for remaining appetizer. We boxed that, set it aside and put the dirty plates at the edge of the table. She served our entrees but didn’t remove the empty plates from our small table or ask if we wanted a water refill. We finished our entrees and wanted to order dessert. So, we waited. 20 minutes. I finally went to the hostess and told her our waitress never returned, ordered dessert from her and she said she would tell our server. And we waited and waited. No server. Ultimately, after being ignored yet again, we went to the hostess told her to cancel the dessert and give us the bill. As I was paying the bill, I noticed our server on the patio chatting with customers at a four top. Although the food was such that we would have enjoyed revisiting the cafe, we will not...
