I was really excited when I found a 4-star rated Thai restaurant in this area but was quickly disappointed when the food arrived. We ordered via GrubHub at 6:30 ish on a Thursday night, and it did come 20 minutes before its quoted time, so I'll give them that.
I ordered the jungle chicken wings for an app, which were actually not bad. Salty, sweet, sour, garlicky - it was the perfect app. I was really craving some noodles and I haven't found a place in NJ that does a good Pad Thai so I decided to go with something safe like drunken noodles. What was not safe was my choice of protein. I decided to go rogue and get meatballs and they literally tasted like frozen meatballs from BJ's. I know because I bought a giant bag of them a few months ago, got really sick of it and only just recently finished them - so the moment I bit into one of those meatballs, I already knew what it was. Aside from the wholesale clubhouse meatballs, I felt the portion was kind of small, compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. There were barely any noodles. It was probably half veggies and half noodles, which I kind of appreciate but am also kind of mad at at the same time. Yes, I do need to eat more veggies, but if I’m ordering takeout, that is my chance to be unhealthy and I want all the noodles I can get. Also, the flavor was more like pad see ew (non spicy and on the sweeter side) so if you want something spicy, this ain’t it.
Maybe I didn’t order the right dish but the meatball situation is unforgivable. If I do order from here again, I definitely know what I am...
Read moreWhen it was time to pay, he stole from us! The owner/waiter Is VERY DISHONEST, he charged us more than what we had to pay. My total came out to $31.95. I give him $40.00 and he gives me only $2.05 back in change???? I asked the owner/waiter why not the full change? He stated to us that the total was $37.95 instead!!!! I added all my expenses which totaled $31.95 due to extra gratuity that is required to pay (not $37.95). Then my wife and I decided to give him the $2.05 just to help him out, we started to feel sorry for him; TO OUR SURPRISE THE OWNER SAID THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH AND HE DEMANDED MORE MONEY AND ASKED US FOR AN ADDITIONAL $5.00!!! HE TOOK THE RECEIPT BACK AND NEVER RETURNED IT TO US - He knew he was going to get busted. He ended up insisting for those $5 and my wife gave it to him because she did not want to be bothered by him, even though I disagreed. This OWNER IS A SORE LOSER AND A MONEY -HUNGRY-UNPROFESSIONAL-GREEDY-IDIOT FOR A BUSINESSMAN. WE REGRET HELPING HIM; His business is dark, empty, with old utensils and many flies in the atmosphere of the place, this place needs a sanitation inspection. HE MAY HAVE STOLEN $$$ FROM BUT HE LOST US AS CUSTOMERS FOREVER AND GAINED A SUPER BAD REVIEW. THERE ARE BETTER PLACES TO GO THAN THIS HOLE OF...
Read moreI'm a Thai food lover and I came across this restaurant while vacationing in New Jersey. It is within walking distance to the Sheraton Hotel located on Harbour Blvd. Never ate at this restaurant's physical location, but we did delivery and pick up. The first night I ordered Jungle Chicken Wings, Massaman Curry w/ Chicken and Pad See-ew with Beef. Everything was really good. Portions were of a good size and my husband made 3 meals out of the Massaman Curry. We had this meal delivery and delivery was very expeditious.
The next time we ordered, my husband walked over and picked up our order which consisted of (2) orders of Sticky Rice and Tamarind Duck. The Sticky Rice was so good and I had some mangos that I cut up and added to it. Unfortunately, the Tamarind Duck was nasty to my taste buds. My husband ate the duck and I the sticky rice.
We ordered again before leaving Jersey and I ordered the Drunken Noodle with Chicken. I don't know if we got lucky with our first order, but the food quality went downhill. I came to the consensus that this restaurant would be on my list "No Returns". I will give an establishment three opportunities to maintain my business if my first encounter was good. Hi-So Thai missed the...
