This is place is beautiful but not for recreation. The only thing allowed is sitting quietly and reading. No playing outside of the playground which is only for 5 and under. No ball, skate,bike,dog,food, drink...im sure I missed 5 more but cant remember. The no sign in front had to broken up into 2 plates. There are Stack Zombies (The Mayors minions that walk around UC in hoards of 25 ringing bells to get support for Brian) posted at every entrance quick to enforce the rules. They mean well and are very nice. Don't get me wrong Stack is the best Mayor UC has ever had. Look around and compare it to 1990's. What a total improvement. But his Zombies are cult like at this point. Otherwise its a safe haven from the riff raff elsewhere. I take my elderly grandma there to get out a get fresh air. Read moreThe recently renovated playground is fantastic with a good variety of brightly colored play equipment. The rest of the park is beautiful as well with winding brick walkways and lots of trees and flowers.
However, the new policy of not allowing ANY food or drink seems unrealistic and takes away from our ability to fully enjoy the park. Also, I've had park attendants come up to me gesturing wildly and speaking in Spanish to admonish me on more than one ocassion. Yes park was redone, yes looks nice, if you enjoy sitting on the metal bench for hours and just sitting. Playground is for small kids (mine is almost 7 yo), so grateful that it was redone as it was in very dangerous shape over a year ago.
