I’m a firm believer in giving new restaurants a little breathing room to find their stride. Some nail it right out of the gate, others need a month or two. I let Petey’s Kitchen marinate for a couple of months before finally swinging by, and now I regret not going sooner. This place is the breakfast game-changer I didn’t know I was missing in the valley. I’m all about a good Benny, so naturally I went straight for the Cali version with bacon and avocado. My breakfast partner went Ala carte with biscuits and gravy. Paired with a perfectly crisp rasher of bacon, it was just the comforting hug you want first thing in the morning. But back to the Benny ... Hollandaise can be a tricky beast in the restaurant world. It needs to be creamy, with a delicate hint of lemon to balance the richness. Petey’s nailed it. None of that gloppy yellow slop that some places dare to call hollandaise. This was smooth, silky, and totally on point. The poached egg? It was like an Eastern Washington sunrise in yolk form - bright, golden, and gooey in all the right ways. Petey’s ticks all the boxes - crispy hashbrowns (by request), a solid breakfast menu, and service that’s as sharp as their knives. Our server was friendly without hovering, coffee was topped off at the perfect moment, and the overall vibe was spot-on. Can't wait to come back, and I’ll make sure I don’t wait months to give them...
Read moreOMG! So little background on me, I'm chubby... I didn't get that way eating bad food! I'm not just a foodie, I cook, I learned from my Grandma and both parents (My dad way a chef at a 4 star restaurant before I was born). I judge all restaurant's against MY skill level. EVERYTHING at Petey's is as good or better than my cooking! The Columbia salad is FIRE! The garlic chicken on it is SOOO good with the sliced avocado on this BIG salad with eggs... plural and red onions on a bed of fresh crisp greens. The chicken noodle soup was amazing and non-traditional with a tex-mex flair incorporating corn, tomato and black beans along with the standard french style mirepoix (carrots, celery, onions). Savory and served with an expertly toasted garlic baguette. Finally the Blueberry fritter, sweet blueberries layered on pillowy puff pastry with creamy ricotta cheese and house made whipped cream... beyond words! All this and a super friendly staff who made sure I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup and a kicked back atmosphere that made me feel like we where just hanging out after hours like back in high school. If you can't come in which you really should at least do yourself a favor and check them out...
Read moreI have a few things to say. When we first got there, we were immediately seated and asked what we would like to drink. We sat for awhile longer then were asked again and thought wow this is good service, then some more time went by and we were asked what we wanted to drink a third time with still no drinks. Eventually, we got our drinks around the same time the couple seated next to us got their sandwiches. This set my standards a little low off the get go. What I wasn't ready for was the 40 minute wait on the food, which mine was really good(I got the biscuits and gravy). However my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and he said it was like eating at a completely different restaurant and this is an issue that makes me question authenticity. They apologized for the wait and gave us a free desert and fruit, but my boyfriends food was awful. The second piece of chicken was inconsistently cooked and the waffles were underdone and flavorless. The atmosphere and decorations is very unwelcoming and unfitting for a so called 'all day breakfast joint.' I tried to give it a chance, but with the high price points for an unmastered menu puts this resteraunt at three...
