We have several coffee shop offerings in the area, but they’ve slowly been losing their “coffeeshop” appeal, catering to other interests rather than figuring out how to make their shop coffee/tea centered and a location for customers to relax/chat/do their work. I’ve lived in the area since 2006, so I feel I can make this distinction.
Parallax offers a few very good coffee or tea based drinks for a very reasonable price and local bakery options in an extremely comfortable setting, where you might do work, meet up with a friend, or even hold a book club meeting in the back.
I loved the server’s recommendation of a matcha lemonade when I wasn’t drinking coffee, and my daughter and I enjoyed our chat on the sofa while others were working on their laptops along the bar beside the wall (great decor and planning for everyone).
I’m glad this business chose Wendell, and along with Whistlestop (my other fav) I’m thankful for another location to meet up with friends or even grade a few papers...
Read moreI’ve been wondering about when a nice cafe would open in Wendell, and I happened to come across their instagram the night before visiting and it was great! I really love the interior design, decor, and color palette of the cafe, with the greens and pinks and other retro-like vibes. The unique cold brew brewer by the register was intriguing, and the space feels clean and stylish. There looks to be ample seating with a variety of options from normal metal chairs to comfier chairs to barstools as well. The cortado and chocolate croissant I got were both yummy, and I do appreciate that they don’t charge extra for oat milk. The only thing I would’ve like done differently was having my cortado served in a cute mug like they had on their instagram, but it still tasted and looked great either way! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a space to meetup, read, or get some work or...
Read moreI'm literally trying to give this place my business but they are making it very difficult. Yesterday, a Saturday, I came in at 2:15pm to order a coffee and a bagel. They told me the "kitchen closed at 2pm" so I can't have my bagel. You don't need a "kitchen" to serve a bagel. You need a toaster and a butter knife. I smiled and left.
Today, a Sunday, I once again attempted to get a bagel and coffee from Parallax. This time I made sure to get there before 2pm. I was there at 12:30pm. I asked for a bagel and a coffee. They informed me I couldn't get a bagel because they only serve bagels Monday-Saturday, not on Sunday. I am not making this up. Why would a cafe not serve bagels on a Sunday, the most popular day of the week for people to want a bagel?
I smiled and left. I tried twice to give this place my money. I will...
