Sabor Latin Street Grill — Restaurant in Wesley Chapel

I've heard good things about this place but I apparently went on the wrong night. I ordered the Dominicano. It was mostly cabbage. The little chicken it did have didn't seem to have any sort of special seasoning - hardly any at all. To top it off, there was no rosada sauce added (supposed to be a main ingredient), which I'm sure would've made all of the difference, but it was mainly a cabbage wrap. I was also told the rice was great as well. I come from a Hispanic background so rice is a staple - this rice, ironically had no sabor (flavor) - the person who recommended it to me agreed, so I know it wasn't just me. I'm sure these and many other items are great when they bring their A game, but I can only speak to my experience and as my first (and last) visit with them, I would have honestly had a better meal at Taco Bell, Chipotle, Moe's, etc. I was really excited about this place and wanted so badly to have a new "regular" spot to add to my list of places I frequent. I had three bites of each, but I had to throw it out and I am not a fan of wasting food. On a positive note, the prices...

This place was alright. I always seem to find it odd when I see non-mexicans or at least some type of Latinos doing the cooking in the kitchen. Sometimes i just don't feel like the food is going to taste, like it's supposed to. I ordered a taco (and at this point i forget what its called), but when you order tacos, most restaurants give you 3 tacos. I only got one. I mean for what I am paying, at least give me 2!

I also ordered the elote. I've had several elotes before, and the taste of this one.. was off. I don't know what it was, but it just didn't taste authentic, probably because the corn just seemed to have been quickly boiled and served. This is the simplest thing to do. It only consists of ROASTED corn, butter, mayo, granulated cotija cheese and chili powder.

Anyway, the thing that threw me off was that we took some things to go... and when I opened the bag a small baby roach came out of...

Update: 06-1-24. Service was very good today for lunch. A few changes in the menu and the specials. All the indoor seating has been changed and updated. It looks good

Maybe 10th visit? Food is always good. Kids were happy. Staff was very friendly today. Quiet (only customers) at 4.30pm // 5th visit, food was great. 3rd visit, 3 stars to 4. This location offers free kids meals w/ the purchase of an adult meal on Wednesday, so the price was unusually good. The Cuban bowl was excellent. Clean tables, good service when ordering. // (Prior review) First visit- happens to be taco Tuesday! (Today they had individual taco deals). Food was good. Nice overall menu. Good kids selection. A few mistakes with our order (5 people, 3 of which were kids). They corrected it ASAP. Space was a bit dirty, but we did arrive at the end of the dinner rush....
