Walked up there to meet friends for a night of drinks, food and darts. Recently moved back into west Allis to be able to walk to establishments. It was 6 pm on a Monday. There were about 5-6 people on one end of the bar, not crazy busy, or even busy. An older couple was sitting at one of the tables, waiting to be served. They may not have known that you might have to order at the bar (we'll come back to this). We waited 10-15 minutes before we were acknowledged by the bartender. He walked passed us like we were not there, it was almost shocking how unaware that we were standing at the bar by the cash register. No "I'll be with you shortly, no greeting, no nothing. As we waited the older couple made their way to the bar again to be ignored. We finally ordered some drinks after looking at the menu and discussed about if we should stay. Walked over to the high top tables, finally the bar tender walked over to ask us if we wanted food. We decided that this was not our spot for tonight or the foreseeable future. Missed out on 4 meals and apps and a bunch of drinks. The bartender was not busy, just seemed he didn't care. Came by us to get a food order but not by the older folks that were there before us. Like I said this was walking distance and would have been a staple but we'll keep walking past next time. I can only imagine what it's like when it's...
Read moreWe heard great reviews from friends so we had to come check it out. To start, the environment was fun and inviting. We came on a Friday night so they were playing, what could be to some, riskay music... But we were having a blast! We had a super sweet and attentive server/bartender named Amelia who was AWESOME. She was on top of everything and had great recommendations!
Now for food, I had the smallest size nachos, which were still huge and loaded with all the yummy goodness. All the staple ingredients and necessities of a great nacho platter were included in abundance. My husband had a hot jam burger that had a jalapeno relish and a blackberry jam. He said the two flavors complimented each other and were a delicious surprise in his mouth. Not only that, he got a side of the tator tots which were not your typical little cylinders of potato. They were the size of jumbo marshmallows and full of flavor. It was like biting into a cheesy/bacon shredded potato yumminess.
We were VERY HAPPY and impressed with the food (if you have been to the previous restaurants that lived in this building, you would get it)
We will definitely be back! I'm excited to try the pizza!
One recommendation.. dessert. You could blow everyone's mind with a tasty lava cake! Other than that, everything was...
Read moreThis was our first time ever ordering from JCs, we did take out. Great friendly phone call with hostess who took my order, but she seemed distracted, maybe they were busy (7pm on a Sunday?)...ordered 2 specialty burgers, both with tots (and ranch sauce) small nacho plate and the reuben wonton. Food was OK...decent bar food, a lot of it for the price, good value, but I got the wrong burger and there was no no ranch sauce for the tots, which were more like hush puppies anyway and were a bit dry. Its a bummer that the burger was wrong, as there was nobody in the place except me pickin up food, so I assumed that makes it easier to get orders correct...maybe they had numerous take out orders lined up. Many of the chips in the nachos were burned as well. So, we will continue to try other joints...
