I first heard about Oscar’s while reading an article on Milwaukee’s frozen custard scene, and I’m glad I gave it a try. For years Kopp’s has been my go-to, but Oscar’s has quickly won me over — it’s now my favorite frozen custard shop in the city. The texture is what sets it apart: dense, thick, and creamy, exactly how custard should be. Their flavors of the day change daily, and the website makes it easy to check ahead. I usually get a three-scoop dish, and Oscar’s is also the best value of the big three — $4.15 compared to $6.00 at Kopp’s and $7.25 at Gilles. A neat tip: you can order a cone with your custard and ask for it in a dish — they’ll place the cone on top so you get the best of both worlds without the mess. They also serve burgers and fries, and I tried a hamburger once. While decent, I still prefer the burgers at Kopp’s, so Oscar’s will remain my go-to spot for a frozen custard fix. The West Allis location has plenty of parking and indoor seating. Service is fast and the staff are always super friendly. Between the price, texture, and flavor variety, Oscar’s has become my top custard stop in Milwaukee. Highly recommended.

This is Hazard to kids!!! So we went there today to get some milkshakes. by definition, a milkshake should be suitable for drinking, obviously. I ordered m&ms milkshake. to start: 1) the taste was horrible. just sugar with some milk and maybe 5 pieces of m&ms. literally thats what it tastes. 2) the straws are horrible. why would you put an “extra thick” option if it would be nearly impossible for a normal person to drink it with your thin straws?? the straw folds on itself whenever I try to drink some and it would hurt my throat from the suction that I apply. and it wont yield anything!! 3) this is hilarious by the way. its a milkshake, who puts WHOLE CHOCOLATE CHIPS in the mik? and not mixing it??? like they are whole chips as in the photo. its really dangerous if a kid is trying to swallow this thing. like really? I need a spoon or something to be able to eat them, and this negates the fact that it’s a milkshake, we should drink it not eat it. Horrible experience and I would be calling the management to complain about this horrible experience.

This past Black Friday after leaving Mayfair Mall, wanted to explore dinner venues outside and away from the mall and since I was craving a burger, Oscar's it was. We live roughly a 50 mile drive south of here in northeastern Lake County IL but anytime we're a few miles north of the border, gotta take advantage of what we don't have down there. Burgers + frozen custard is definitely popular in WI and are pretty limited in IL at least where we're at aside from Culver's. This place definitely put a smile on my face on our very first visit. The burgers & custard definitely are a hit but the food overall is really good especially for the price. You won't find prices like this at a similar competitor anywhere in the flatland. Venue boasts a great all-around menu with yummy grub and very friendly service in a clean and relatively spacious dining area. If ever up in the area again, now I have a new go-to spot for delicious burgers & custard.

Have gone here for great burgers and chili dogs for years with good results. Was here this week and had my daughter order for us. While were were waiting I looked at the reciept and the order was missing a double burger and they were ordered as well done but not on the paperwork. Had my daughter go back in to correct the missing food and correct the well done instructions which she remembered saying at least three times. Had to get home and started eating a burger and it was beyond pink barely cooked and the bun was soggy and gross. Definately not close to what was ordered. Both my sandwiches were the same and not edible as the meat was barely cooked.. tons of liquid juice and the buns were never heated or browned which is also normal. Called the store manager to see if we could fix the problem and let him know the young woman that entered the order wrong twice did not even know how to correctly type in well done. The manager was not good at trying to figure out any solution and did not seem interested in correcting this issue. So I asked if the owner could please call me to get this resolved.

Owner did not call me that or the next day. So I called again and explained I needed a call back from the owner. And that went with no response 2 days as well. So I left an additional third call today to the store asking for the store owner to call me.

So two gross burgers beyond undercooked went from a minor problem gross 12 dollar pile of goo. To an angry customer that has called 3 times after the store manager could not fix this. This is just sad. Thinks can go wrong and thats life. But the failure to bother to fix a customer problem is not good business. The employee must have no understanding at how to use the cash register. As 4 times she could not get it right. Further she must not understand what well done means. Or how to ring it up or at least tell the cooks which are 10 feet from her to get it done.

What happened to this burger place I used to love. I normally go to the hy 18 location. The west allis location I have been too.. but not twice a year lately. Please contact me if you care at all. My info was left three times. The store manager found my reciepts and charge card info as he looked up the orders that took two tries as food was left out.

Called and left requests for the owner a total of 5 times. Got no resonse. I dont want free stuff. I want an apology . ...

When we stopped in the first time I was hungry but the little girl in the backseat wanted ice cream and I was delighted they had food. Her and mom just wanted frozen custard. Sorry she's not quite 2 and I think doesn't understand the difference between ice cream, eh, to frozen custard, yum. I ordered a grilled chicken garden salad, bowl of chili, a quart of vanilla to go (they kept it in the freezer and just had me show my receipt on way out) and the mom and youngling got a sundae with sliced bananas, I was supposed to get some of the sundae at the end. I did get to have a bite or two at the end...it was probably the best frozen custard I have ever had and I've had a bit at 50 years old. The staff was friendly, the building had ambiance and felt like family after sitting down watching everyone enjoy their delicious frozen custard in a variety of sizes, flavors and topping combinations...then the food came. I'll start with we were dining in. Everything came in "to-go" containers, plastic cup for the frozen custard, styrofoam cup and plastic lid for the chili, plastic bowl and lid for salad and all utensils were plastic, wrapped in plastic film, all in a paper bag. I guess I wouldn't have as much of a problem if I thought there was any chance all of this was recycled. Since I didn't see anything but trash cans, I'm guessing they don't...but I could be wrong and would be willing to change my rating. My guess is I won't hear back from anyone. The chili was pretty good, better than mine. As I have said the custard was grand and I think a fair price. Which brings me to the grilled chicken salad. The salad was good, although somehow all of my sliced cucumbers were given to our daughter. All I got was the cucumber peels, she still spits them out. I get a distinct impression that the chicken isn't really "grilled" either. My guess is they have a stamp or a marker or something or maybe they drop them on a grill for an instant but the majority time of cooking the chicken is not on a grill. If it is, they do something else to it afterwards to make the grill marks nearly non existent and have no distinct char marks or tiny chunks of...

I will NEVER return to the West Allis location after tonight. The customer service at this location has gone completely down the drain. I went there with my two kiddos for some cheese curds, onion rings, and ice cream tonight. The food was delish. No complaints about the food. I went to the counter twice to make my purchases - once for hot food and once for the ice cream. I was not warmly greeted either time. There was stuff all over the counter that was being broken down/cleaned/put away. It was hard to tell where to even approach the counter to look like I wanted to order. Not many of the employees seemed like they enjoyed their jobs. The staff seemed cranky and there was an odd sense of tension while I was at the counter. My almost 10 month old daughter decided that she was in the mood to finish the last couple ounces of her bottle just before close, so I fed her. There were still other people finishing up their food and leaving with their orders a few minutes past 10pm (when they closed). As I was getting ready to leave, about 8 minutes after close, some of the staff members were talking loudly. One employee said to another employee "shh, there's still people here", to which another employee said "why are people still here? It's ten after. Get the f*uck outta here already." I was livid. I quickly finished gathering my things, grabbed my kids, and we left. The one person who was super helpful was an employee who was cleaning up the dining room area at the end of the night. She helped me clean up our area and unlocked and held the door for us on our way out. Perhaps the other staff could stand to learn some things from her about customer service. I will not be back to the West Allis location. We were at the Franklin location a couple weeks prior and had nothing but excellent customer service. I will drive the extra bit to go to Oscar's in Franklin, where I...
