If you miss the old Schlotzky's, this is where to go.
I have to admit when I saw Schlotzky's close, I was devastated. BUT.... in its place this shop arose out of the ashes. I assume the franchise fees were too much, perhaps. The menu has many Schlotzky favorites, but also many new sandwiches to choose from.
My go-to sandwich is the roast beef and cheese. For some reason NOT listed on the menu board, but it is there in the online menu. I was not disappointed, the sandwich is pretty much the same as the Schlotzky's version. For that reason alone, I will be back, because there's nothing else like it in town. Very very tasty.
A few minor downsides: Understaffed. Only 2 people, the guy was bouncing back and forth between the register and the kitchen. The woman co--worker was busy as well. They really could use a third person. I get it, times are tight. So if you come, be patient depending on the time of day.
The decor needs serious work. First up, the OUTSIDE has no major signage of ANY kind, except for small round signs on the windows and door. This is a huge mistake, because from any kind of distance at all, it literally looks like the place is still closed.
The interior also needs a lot of attention. The material on many of the chairs is old and cracked, the ceiling is awful, and the floors were just... not clean. The tables are... generic. It's like they jjust don't care. The vibe is... like this place is just hanging on to survive. If there was any kind of investment in the exterior AND interior, I think they would have a higher customer draw and therefore a more solid customer base. And it would be more enjoyable to eat there. In seeing the drcor I opted to take my...
Read moreI got a turkey and avocado sandwich and my wife got the same in a wrap. They were moderately OK I guess, but rather bland. Except for the jalapeño bread they used, which was way too spicy and seems like a bad choice for that particular sandwich. Had I known that's the bread it comes with I would have ordered something else. Despite being too spicy for my sandwich, I could tell the bread was of good quality. Ingredients themselves were mostly disappointing and not very flavorful, except for the turkey, which was excellent. No sauces or oils, which seemed odd. Overall, the sandwich was too spicy, not enough avocado, bland, and overpriced. Other than the bread, which I didn't care for, there was nothing special, no pizzazz. My wife said her wrap was OK but bland and poorly wrapped, leaving her at times with a mouthful of tortilla without ingredients.
The atmosphere is like the sandwiches, mediocre. Sort of a cross between a Subway and a cool sandwich shop. Almost cool, but not there.
Annoying they make you pay for a full fountain drink if you just want a cup of water. Maybe too many people ordered a water but then stole soda, so they had to adopt this strategy. Seems a better call would be if they had a separate water jug.
And what's up with all the signs saying you can't bring in your own food or drinks? Are we in Middle School?
Anyway, overall, it seems like they have potential, but they're...
Read moreWanted so much to like this place. Menu looked good altho the sandwiches were basicall schlotzkeys? Sp? But hey, that was a good thing to me. So i finally get to order , not to sure why only one guy seemed to be doing everything either. Anyway, so i order and couldn't help notice there's a tray of meat in the back just sitting there . Not only was it just sitting there uncovered but it was also next to a dirty sink and not one but two garbage cans! Super gross , having worked in a few restaurants in my life i knew it to be a very big nono. I waited almost a half hour total in that place as that meat sat there . I also watched as a woman with the nerve to wear a chefs coat walk past it multiple times . I finally get my order ( the wait wasn't the issue btw just part of the story) and look back again and a big chunk of the garbage meat is now missing! I was ready to throw up!! Regardless of my hinger at that point the ham sandwich went right in the trash. So it was a small dish of over priced pick n save macaroni salad for my lunch break. Yay me! Either way this place sadly is the reason restaurants get a bad rap and then inevitably close. Seriously shame on you guys, super unprofessional and anyone one with a modicum of restaurant experience should...
