Overall disappointed - I will preface this review by saying, my husband and I rarely go out to eat because we are both good cooks. We have been to Capital Grill, Ruth's Chris, Flemings, Novi Chophouse, Le Cirque in Las Vegas (amazing by the way) and have really enjoyed all of them. We are not opposed to spending big money on a memorable dinner. This was for our 21st anniversary. The table was well set and the room nice. We were given a good amount of time to determine what we wanted, but had questions as I have celiac disease and NOTHING WAS LABELED. I called the waiter over who obviously had NO IDEA what gluten free meant and he didn't seem to care as he GUESSED on what was gluten free telling us the truffle fries were. I had to ask him to go find out from the chef to make sure (I hate getting sick) which he seemed very annoyed by. He came back about 15 minutes later that yes, in fact almost everything i was asking about did actually contain gluten including the fries which he had encouraged me to order. After we had decided what to order (about 30 minutes after being seated due to wait time and the waiter going back and forth the the kitchen) NOW he decided to tell us the specials? The specials sounded AMAZING and I wanted to talk to my husband again about changing our order so we asked for another minute. He came back 15 minutes later to take our order. We both ordered a special - My husband ordered the 10 oz ribeye with loaded mash and broccolette and i ordered a halibut special, we asked for both to be made gluten free so we could share (I'll preface that we did not know the prices of the meals, because we had assumed due to the cost of the 12 oz ribeye on the menu with the sides and so we expected it to come back at around $80-$90 as that is what it would have been with the ribeye from the menu with the sides). The food came out in perfect amount of time, looked amazing, and we began to indulge. Here is where the real disappointed ensues. The halibut was overcooked - I have made halibut many times at home - I know what good halibut tastes like, this fish was DRY! Also, when giving the specials the waiter told me that, the halibut came with lobster mashed potatoes - it did not - i don't know whether they removed them because of the gluten or whether the waiter told me wrong, but there were no potatoes at all just a sweet corn, pepper, asparagus, cauliflower medley which was good, but not lobster mashed potatoes good which had actually sold me on the halibut! The cut of the ribeye which was a good size, perfectly cooked medium rare and beautifully seasoned, BUT was much more sirloin than ribeye - this steak was TOUGH, hurt my jaw tough and had NO MARBLING whatsoever. It was hard to cut with the steak knife given! The sides with the steak were amazing and we got bone marrow butter that was fantastic - so herbaceous yummy. The waiter came around once to check on our meal and yes, we should have said something, but everyone knows it is EMBARRASSING to send food back or complain at a nice place - it makes a scene and ruins other peoples experiences. We wanted dessert - chocolate cake was brought with a beautiful sparkler for our anniversary which was a nice touch and my husband said that it was delicious. I ordered Crem Brule because OF COURSE there was not any other option on the menu that I could have (you'd think an expensive steak house could have some flourless chocolate cake or gluten free something). The Crem Brule was good, but equivalent to what i make - I did appreciate that they use real vanilla bean in it rather than just vanilla extract. The bill came and we almost threw up our dinner - $289 (including the 20% tip). The super tough 10 oz sirloin was $125!! We could have gotten the 12 oz from the menu with sides for less money!!!! The overcooked Halibut without the lobster mash was $60. Our $100 gift card barely put a dent in it and I could have served my entire family of 5 USDA prime ribeye and lobster tail at home for less than this. We will never...
Read moreI gave this place a 1 star only because I had too, the service was absolutely horrible and racist in my opinion! My friends and I went to celebrate a birthday We were seated originally with 8 but 3 left so there were 5 of us but before the 3 left they had to go to the bar and place drink orders because our waitress never assisted us with anything but water, moving forward we now have drinks(the 5 of us) we had to waive the waitress down to take our order and she does, she then ask if we’d like another drink. 45 mins pass by we waive the waitress down again( because she hasn’t checked on us at all) we ask does she know how much longer it’s going to be she says not that much longer you guys didn’t order starters so it takes a little longer😕 another 20 mins go by I see a man in a suit walk by I waive him down “ excuse me sir excuse me sir excuse me” he keeps walking over to the other table ask them is everything going well how’s the visit, as he walks right past our table I’m waving my hand saying excuse me sir excuse and again he continues to walk as if he didn’t hear me or see me he then checks on the next table “how’s evtg hope your enjoying evtg” I try to wave him down again he walks off! I then see a waiter and stop him I asked if the gentleman in the suit is the manager he confirms that he is indeed the manager, I asked the waiter would he be so kind to ask him to come over and have a word with me. The gentleman in the suit comes over “how may I help me” is what he asked I then replied “ We’ve been waiting for over an hour on our food could you please find out how much longer it’ll be” the gentleman then walks away without uttering a word and about 2 mins later our food was coming out! He never bothered to come back and make sure evtg was ok never asked were we satisfied nothing at all. The service we received was absolutely horrible the food was mediocre Salmon was cold, lobster Mac n cheese was soupy they brought out a filet told us they didn’t have anymore garlic mashed potatoes and offered truffle fries as a substitute( who wants truffle fries with a filet) even though they had many other options to choose from. We asked the waitress to bring cake out for the birthday girl and she told her she was bringing her a cake out when she returned to the table so the surprise was ruined🤬 we spent about $600 with a 20% gratuity for terrible service bad food and great atmosphere I give...
Read moreHORRIFIC! THEFT! PRICE GAUGING $96.00 for pasta is unmitigated THEFT! i failed to ask the waiter the cost to substitute items and it was not volunteered. i was asked how many scallops i wanted? also, i asked for two shrimp, not knowing the price? on top of that, 20% is automatically charged to the tab. what if the service were not good? you still leave a 20% tip⁉️ tipping needs to be removed from the US system because it is out-of-control. thievery restaurants such as this one is expecting customers to spend hundreds of dollars on everyday food, while they depend on the customer to compensate their staff because they are too cheap and greedy to compensate, pay their personnel; it's ABOMINABLE! almost every business in this country provides some type of service. yet, only the restaurant industry demands a tip. why are people at gas stations, post office, hospitals, bus drivers, airport personnel, airline crew, baggage handlers, people working in grocery stores, etc... NOT being paid a tip? why are restaurant owners NOT paying their staff? because we have sat back and allowed restaurants to exploit us as customers. i am NOT responsible for your staff. you pay your own personnel for providing service. ChatGPT states that 82% of Americans now in 2024, are against tipping because it is OUT_OF_CONTROL! bottom-line, the food was terrible! 👎 and was NOT worth $96.00; not regular spaghetti, with scallops and shrimp. that dish was $54.00 overpriced; DESPICABLE! i do NOT recommend this restaurant because the food is outrageously expensive and lousy tasting.🤮 i took three bites of the pasta in the sauce and i was done. ohhh and i was too charged for the Béarnaise sauce, $5.00; tacky, tacky, tacky, DISGUSTING! even that didn't have the correct taste. an all-around horrible experience. NOTE: i've eaten in restaurants all around the world; US base, i.e., Forge, Peter Luger, Spagos, Gary Danko's, Cipriani's... have spent as much as $400.00 - 500.00 on dinner with two friends and it was money well spent. this was unequivocally not worth what i paid. especially not in some town that most people in the world have never heard of in middle-america, michigan.😲 clearly the people that frequent this restaurant and rave about the food are people who are NOT exposed; are clueless about fine dining; this is not fine dining in essence; it's simply, THEFT! i'm extremely disappointed in the experience; ugh!...
