I'm sad to say that we had a terrible experience at Mandaras's on Friday Jan 17, 2020. Our good friends go here all the time (at least twice per week) and we go fairly regularly as well. We did notice a high turnover of staff which is sad because they have separated from several great people. Anyway, back to Friday. 5 of us were meeting for happy hour and the hostess said it would be ok to get from the happy hour menu at a table. I was running late but once seated my friends ordered a drink and asked for happy hour menu. waiter was rude and said happy hour is only at the bar. they moved to the bar, bartender told them no happy hour on Friday... so the hostess and waiter couldn't tell them that? The waiter took 45 minutes to bring the drink orders. They ordered appetizers and were about to order dinner as i had just arrived at which point the waiter said we had to leave because we had been there too long.... He said it was the managers orders so we asked for the manager, he came over and said that "he never said that" but didn't apologize or say anything else. We were mortified and decided to leave. the waiter followed us out the door and yelled at us that we were talking advantage! taking advantage of what? no happy hour specials, 4 appetizers were ordered, several drinks were ordered and 5 dinners were about to be ordered and more cocktails.. what!! I've never heard of anything like it. Then one of my friends said that waiter had also been fired from Amore. OK, bad waiter but manager was no different. he didn't even acknowledge my friend who lives across the street and is there with her husband at least twice each week. SAD, with this behavior they will lose customers, I for one will tell everyone i know and so will all of my friends. Advice to Mandara's treat your...
Read moreMandara's offers homemade authentic Italian cuisine. Every food I tried was truly chef's kiss delicious and fresh. If I was to discuss each food I ate, all I could say is that the food was great, I highly recommend it. Seriously, every food was nicely flavored and deliciously prepared. One of the food I was impressed by was the rice ball. I usually do not like rice ball because the rice can be overwhelming. But not here. It was perfect amount of rice, with pea and other fillings. It didn't even feel like I was eating a rice ball. For my main entree, I ordered the Shrimp Fiorentina. It was amazing. The shrimps and sauce compliment each other well, the potatoes was nicely seasoned and roasted, and spinach on the side to get my daily veggie intake. I would assume it would be on the pricey here, but it is surprisingly affordable here especially the appetizers. An appetizer can be a meal itself due to the portion. Ten dollars can still get you an amazing meal here. Another thing I liked about Mandara's is the decor and atmosphere. Even though my group were chatty, it wasn't noisy. Our table were able to have a conversation easily. The atmosphere was cozy and the tables were nicely spaced out so you don't bump into another table when leaving. Mandara's has gain a...
