Today the tall Latin woman at the register displayed rude controlling behavior. As a customer you want to go into a business and be treated kindly and with respect. Today was far from that. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a baguette and a cup of black coffee. Looking around I did not find a sugar and cream station to prepare my own coffee to my Liking. I asked the lady where I can find cream and sugar. She comes out with a bag with misc packets and creams. After depositing the cream in the coffee it began to curl and I showed the lady that I have a lot of curled milk in the coffee cup and if she could just give me a new cup of black coffee instead. She took my cup and then from behind the counter she asked me if I wanted regular milk. I said that’s fine just to pls give me the milk and I will pour the amount of milk to my liking. She gave me the cup with foam on top. Looking confused she said what’s wrong. I said I was expecting a new cup of black coffee and the 2% milk like I asked to pour. She said oh I steamed the milk in the cup. Already frustrated I left only to bite into a chewy sandwich. From experiencing other Lee’s Sandwiches in Long Beach I know 1st hand that the baguette should be fresh baked and flaky. As I uncovered the coffee cup lip the milk in the coffee cup had what appeared to be a layer of oil beginning to separate. I wouldn’t be surprised if she just blended the creamer packets in the steamer that’s why she didn’t give me the milk for me to pour on my own. So I return asking for a refund. The woman aggressively said she cannot give me my refund because they don’t do that. I showed her my cup of coffee with thin layer of oily film on top and she refused to look at it and got irate and loud with me in front of numerous customers. I also showed her my sandwich. It looked like it was wrinkling not what a fresh sandwich from Lee’s Sandwiches look like. I proceeded to tell her I’ve eaten at Lee’s sandwiches in Long Beach and they serve fresh bread. She then decided to refund me this time my money all with a horrible attitude. I asked for my receipt for my right off records and she refused to give it to me. I pleaded with her many times to please give me my receipt she kept telling me no I will not give it to you. I said it’s my Receipt I need it for my records. Finally after I raised my voice and demanded she take it out of the garbage she went in the garbage wrote void on the refunded item. That’s all she needed to do from the beginning. She put me through an embarrassing experience. The worst customer service experience by far. I will never purchase from that location in Torrance off of...
Read moreOnly 5 words for this Vietnamese Sandwich place - THE. BEST. DURIAN. SHAKES. EVERRRR!!!
The very friendly lady who was manning the counter even whooped when my husband said, 'I'd like a Durian Shake, please? Apparently, not too many Californians order it.
In case you don't know what Durian is, it's a huge, spiky Asian fruit that has a buttery texture but stinks to high heavens. It is yummy to those who enjoy exotic Asian tastes. We consider it a delicacy.
Apart from the Durian Shake, THE VIETNAMESE COFFEE is to die for! I asked for a not-sweet version but with cream and it was glorious caffeine. Better than Starbucks. I don't know though if they use cream. I think they use evaporated milk which is fine by me.
For my meal I had the Vietnamese Chicken Sandwich which was OK, like maybe 2 to 2.5 stars. And the Spicy Chicken Wings which I found too salty so I'll give that a very low 1.5 to 2 stars rating.
I'll be sure to come back for more Coffee and Durian Shakes!
2nd Visit - we went back to a different branch in Torrance on Crenshaw and Sepulveda and they had NO DURIAN SHAKE! So we tried the Jackfruit and it wasn't so good. 😞😞😞 Here is our review of this visit:
Jackfruit Shake - 🌟 Coffee, unsweetened with half n half - 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Veggie Spring Roll - 🌟 🌟 Turkey Club Deli...
Read moreI gave up on lees a few years back because we ordered vegetarian sandwiches and both accidentally had pieces of pork in it! After that it was a no go. Years later to recent I picked up vegetable rolls in the case. Gross! The rolls were not fresh and the rice paper covering was already hard once I opened the plastic covered package wrap. Not fresh at all. I don’t know why they hoard items to sell in these Lee locations but they need to clear it up of too much clutter. It seems very cultural. I don’t know why they don’t make the veggie rolls made to order it would be great. At one point it was made when you ordered it but these days it’s just ready and not sure if it’s been there for a while until .. in this case you open it and take a bite or feel the outside ends.. lack of freshness , lack of taste, lack of effort. The customer service is just not great as...
