Literally old school bowling place where you have to keep your own scores (but at least there is an automatic pin setter and ball return) while drinking an adult beverage and eating some food (though kind of gross when you think about how dirty bowling balls are...)
Half of this place is 8 Lane bowling alley, the other half a bar/lounge area. They Brew their own beers. I had a decent pear saison and my friend had an interesting pear cider. We got the hummus which is actually an enormous portion. Probably good enough for 3-4 people to much on.
Bowling is pretty fun. Lanes are not very oily for those who care. Learning how to keep score correctly was like being in a math class again. Good thing they have a helpful scoring section at the bottom (and/or the internet). Made me realize how life changing it must have been for all those old school bowling guys when the automatic scorer came into being (because, for example, you sometimes have a hard time discerning how many pins fell over in a given frame).
I thought it was spendy. Bowling is $35/he + shoe rental + drinks +food. Ended up spending $75 on an hour of bowling (2 games for 2 people). Economics probably work out better for bigger groups (which it seems to be more...
Read moreLudicrous pricing for bowling, and the Burnt City beers are a far cry from the excellence that was previously Atlas Brewing. Burnt City serves up incredibly mediocre craft beer that any amateur Homebrewer could easily surpass with good control and an actually interesting recipe.
But what really ruined the whole experience here for me is the fact that they charge $40 an hour just to bowl, which meant that playing three games with my significant other cost $52 on top of our tab of a few beers each over the course of sightly greater than an hour. This is compounded by the fact that this pricing is not mentioned nor advertised anywhere, so you're wondering why it costs close to $20 per game simply to throw a ball at some pins in a vintage environment which is not even capable of keeping score.
Quite simply, when you go somewhere to bowl for an hour your bowling tab should not be double your tab of 5-6 beers in price. This simply screams elitism and price fixing which well matches the underwhelming corporate nature of burnt city brewing. This is not a local small business which cares about serving good beer or pleasing their customers, it is simply another masqued corporate racketeering scheme preying on...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE this place!!!! The Beer is Great! The Food is Great! The Staff are Great! Beautiful place to go and enjoy a night out…if after having a wonderful meal and finely crafted beer or indulging in a perfectly prepared drink/cocktail from their bar, you feel like having a little extra fun, no worries, they have a bowling alley with full bar attached (but don't get the wrong impression, the bowling alley is completely separated from the dining so there are no interruptions to the ambiance within the brewery/restaurant….my applause to the owner). I cannot say enough about this place, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and offer outstanding service. If I could give Atlas Brewing more stars, I most definitely would! Atlas is approximately 2.5 hours from our home in Indiana but my wife and I have made the trip several times since discovering this treasure, we even spent her Birthday/our 11th Wedding Anniversary there with some friends (same date)…Everyone had a Great time! We cannot wait to go back,...
