I know that the pictures are not appealing to the eye…but what they lack in presentation the make up for in taste. My fiancé and I have been looking for another sandwich spot since our usual spot has changed in taste. This is our spot from now on. My boyfriend had the turkey sandwich and I had the media noche. The sandwiches were warm, the lettuce was not wilted, it had the perfect amount of Mayo. The chocolate chip cookies are sweet but yummy! We also had pastellio and it was fire. The guayaba and powered sugar complimented one another along with a crunchy pastry dough. Service was fast and friendly which is what we all need in the world! Can’t wait to return!

This is one of my favorite cafes in Chicago. I go here at least once a month. I get the black coffee and share a pastry and breakfast sandwich with my partner. She loves the cafe colao drink. Our favorite pastry is the guava doughnut. It’s so soft and full of delicious guava goodness. The breakfast sandwiches are all great. It’s hard to pick a favorite one. The bread they use in the sandwiches are so soft too. Pillowy goodness! I also bought pastries for my bachelor party, and it was a hit! Continue making great food Cafe Colao, and we will continue to share it with our family and friends. 🙂 Oh yeah, and the manager and staff are great too!

best cuban sandwich in town so far and I am from Chicago! I also had the bread with butter. i am used to having sugar on my bread and butter but it was good. i just think the french bread they use is outstanding. coffee, of course, good. Also had a guava tart, it was delicious. not too sweet. the tart part was a little hard for me but I love soft cookies so hopefully that helps you gauge for your taste. The music was salsa the whole time I was there. they have a cute patio which I wanted to sit at but was too hot for that day. The staff is awesome! so nice and courteous. Definitely coming back. Want to try the iced coquito.

They offer good pastries and coffee to go... but they need to really do better with their sandwiches. The sandwiches are made with their freshly baked bread but not much in them to satisfy! The "bone in ham" we requested in our breakfast sandwiches was obsolete. There are upcharges for things like this so no matter how busy it is, if your customers are waiting for more than 20 minutes for their sandwiches, you should always prepare your sandwiches as ordered and do better with using enough ingredients and stop being skimpy on meat or any other ingredients. We understand Prices go up but these sandwiches back in the day were reasonably priced, and deliciously stacked! Today, I was sad to say that we left spending well over $60 in all to only find that our sandwiches were skimpy with very little meat and ingredients. Nothing y'all can't fix like today and moving forward so we expect ya'll will do better next time! Build better sandwiches and please stop upcharging for simple ingredients that already belong...

Bought some sandwiches and oatmeal to go. Was waiting for the food to be ready to go. Sat on one of their chairs and the lady asked me for vaccination ID. Segregation in restaurants now. I know business owners have to follow government orders to keep their doors open. That was not the issue, the problem was the way she told us. Very rude attitude. (There is ways of saying things) I forgot to ask her for vaccination ID and also for her medical record. Some people may have HIV, hepatitis and other conditions worse than covid, that can be contagious to people. I will never support this business again. If restaurant’s owners really care about their business and their clients (the ones paying their salaries) they should fight back to have equal service for vaccinated an unvaccinated people. Asking for “private information” is discrimination. Now we have segregation in 2022. Vaccinated and unvaccinated get covid and are contagious to others. Guess restaurant are going to run out of...

The staff and owners of this community Cornerstone, with a capital C, have provided a fun, neighborly, inviting atmosphere for them 26 years I’ve been living here… and longer. They have never not had a smile in their face. They’ve greeted every customer that enters with a warm, genuine, and heartfelt-friendly ‘hi’, or ‘hola’ that makes you feel truly welcome va They bake their bread and pastries true to their Puerto Rican roots and they share their passion for the Island and its culture with a passion that is both flavorful and addicting.

My wife aged I enjoy going there during our walks for their hospitality, and during the summer months…the amazing passion fruit lemonade.

Next time you’re in the neighborhood, stop in for the love, stay for the coffee...
