Carm's Beef and Italian Ice — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

While going to school next door & being a creature of habit, I always had either the Italian ice & a cheeseburger & fries or a delicious Ham, Salami and Provolone Sub with HOT 🔥 GIARDINIERA! You could always count on the sub being awesome! The cheeseburger would be juicier and perfect if the original Italian Nonna was ruling the grill. Well, after an absence of a couple of decades, it's become obvious that good help is hard to find and that we truly miss Nonna! The creature behind the counter today looked and acted half asleep. I wanted a ham salami and provolone sub with no mayo; instead I wanted a light squirt of vinegar and oil, and a scoop of hot giardiniera. Alas we had to get our sustenance to go, and when we unwrapped our precious subs at home the HORROR! No vinegar, no oil, a schmear of dastardly mayo and No HOT 🔥 GIARDINIERA! Came from UIC with a buddy who told me to try out this place by campus. The location to campus is VERY CONVENIENT. It is a 5 minute walk from UIC’s campus and is relatively affordable. My friend ordered a Gyro and I ordered a a Cheesy Beef (Italian Beef Sub) and the total came out to be around $26. Food was great and location was also very great.

Also, if you want to order Italian ice you can ONLY pay with cash. There is no card payments for Italian ice due to it being $5-10. So have cash in hand if you want to order Italian ice on your visit.

On another note, there was only 3 workers at the time and I’m not sure if this was a rush hour, but the food took about 15-20 minutes to be ready. Which to me I did not mind since I had all the time to wait and eat with my friend, but to others it might be too much time. I was in the area shopping 🛍 and I remembered there was 2 sandwich shops across from each other . Remembering delivering Chicago Tribune Newspaper both establishment businesses, First time I been here since 2012 . I ordered the meatball sandwich , fries 🍟 & drink, & You're talking about " satisfied " Meatball sandwiches are my favorite and that what you get at other places , At Carm's this was more like Homemade Italian dish , My Italian Mum from Italy 🇮🇹 would love 💘 ..
