Food was really bad, quantity was good but could not eat it, not sure why so much of rating and what the hype is about? 🤔 Service was worst, no greetings, no smile as if they are doing some kind of favor or giving us free food. Ordered mix veg paratha (which is not stuffed paratha but plain paratha with stinky and yucky vegetables sabji on side), same with egg paratha (plain paratha and egg bhurji on side), chicken biryani which was not eatable, only edible dish was butter chicken and mango shake was okay. Tables were dirty, same with chairs, had to clean it by myself. Garbage cans were overflowing, plates, waste food was lying around on the floor. Will never ever visit this place in this lifetime or next 🤭

The serving is very generous. The biryani was good with adequate level of hotness however, it lacked the traditional garam masala spices, tez patta, all the stuff that adds that aroma and flavor. And the spicy chicken biryani was too red in color. Looked closer to zarda rice than biryani. Could have also added some mint leaves garnish on top. The mango Lassi is on point taste wise. But the serving size is small for a Lassi glass and it's not as thick in consistency as a traditional Lassi with malai on top should be. Bottomline: Is this authentic Pakistani/Indian food? Not even close.

I was a long time customer the last couple years the food was fantastic lots of chicken with rice as in the chicken Briyani. I notice the last time I went there about couple months ago they gave way less chicken but the rice was still good moist and tasty so I let it go a negative. Today was probably the last time I will go they actually gave one leg and piece of half thigh the rice was dry aka didn’t taste the same less onions as well to be honest so many businesses are cutting corners like if customers won’t be able to notice after this visit u guess I take my business elsewhere.

The quality of the food is okay here, while the quantity is more than okay! It is not authentic Indian that you taste here, however, if you've never tried the spicy Indian dishes, it's better you start off with such a mild restaurant. I would say this serves Americanized Indian dishes 😀 The prices of each of the menu items are much less than you could find at any Indian place, thanks to its quality. The restaurant is very close to the UIC east campus, making it the most famous stop for the student crowd here. So yes, you have to put up with the queues and crowd here at times.

Went thrice in a year- 1) CHICKEN BIRIYANI served with onion and chutney. (7/10-usual chicken pulao tasted good and value for money) 2) CHILLI CHICKEN with PARATHA served with onion and chutney. (8/10-should be named as dry chicken masala curry, tasted good but not like chilli chicken. Ordered a must try MANGO LASSI with (1) & (2). 3) EGG with PARATHA served with onion and chutney. Can avail ketchup when asked at the counter. (7/10-usual egg double side fry with big paratha)

Place is great. Food is awesome. Portions for the price are phenomenal. Stop expecting filet mignon for brisket pricing. Yes you may have to run to the bathroom shortly after eating here, but I consider it part of the experience. Ghareeb is the McDonald’s of desi food.
