One Star Review I honestly don't know where to begin. From the moment I walked into this so-called "restaurant," I knew I was in for a nightmare. First off, the owners are absolutely disastrous. Rude, entitled, and dismissive of anyone who dares to voice a complaint or even ask a simple question. It felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by letting me eat there, rather than the other way around.

The food? Terrible. Whoever's in charge of the kitchen clearly has no idea what they’re doing. What was supposed to be a “signature dish” ended up being some inedible, flavorless mush that I wouldn’t feed to my dog. Overcooked, underseasoned, and frankly, an embarrassment to anyone who has ever tasted actual good food.

To top it all off, the prices were astronomical for what you get. I can't believe I spent that much money on a meal that felt like a slap in the face.

The icing on the cake was the behavior of the owners. They were not only rude and unprofessional but also engaging in activities that could only be described as criminal. I witnessed them harassing another customer who dared to complain about their food, and I have no doubt there were shady dealings going on behind the scenes. They were also caught stealing personal property—yes, you read that right—and then tried to act like nothing happened. Absolutely appalling.

I’m really glad Google hasn’t bowed to these entitled thieves and is keeping all of the real, honest reviews up—no matter how much they try to claim they’re false. You can’t hide the truth. Don’t waste your time here—do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. You’ll get better food, better service, and your...

I Ate there for breakfast. Have to admit, I really enjoyed the food and the service. That is until the end. My friend and I were discussing a business matter we were planning to collaborate on and one of the Waite staff came over with a very hostile face and tone in his voice and said, "are you done! Do you need anything else!" To me that said, now that you have eaten and paid your bill now get out so we can get someone else's money. I may be wrong but how it was done and the tone in his voice and also the heads that turned to see what my reaction would be tells me I was correct in my assumption. For that reason I gave 1 star. If I could have given none I would have. With all of the tension that exists in this city that I love so much, a negative reaction by me would have made the situation worse. So I walked away never to return. I have never written a Restaurant review but this one I had to write. If there had been a posted sign stating a time limit or anything about time it would not have been an issue. But there wasn't and there is an issue. Hashbrown, thanks for the shabby treatment. I'll stick to Les Brothers...

From the moment we walked into Hashbrowns, we were greeted with warm, genuine hospitality that set the tone for an outstanding brunch experience. The menu is packed with comforting favorites and creative twists on classic breakfast dishes — and yes, the hashbrowns truly live up to the name! Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, they’re easily the best I’ve had in the city.

I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, and it was phenomenal — hearty, flavorful, and generously portioned. My husband had the chicken and waffles, which hit that perfect sweet-savory balance. The coffee was strong, fresh, and refilled often, and our server was attentive without hovering.

The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, with a cozy neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger just a bit longer. Whether you're a local or just visiting Chicago, Hashbrowns is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

Highly recommend — five stars...

Hidden gem in Chicago. Hashbrown made a weekly customer out of me. Been in the business for 20 years and serving breakfast anytime and lunch. Located:731 W Maxwell Street, Chicago Hours: 7 days a week. 6am to 3pm Parking: street or parking garage on Maxwell Now go grab you a egg specialty by your area. That 18th, Greentown, or Maxwell. But that Chicken Chiptole Omelet 😋 10 Overall experience 9. That chicken and waffles wasn't feeding my soul. I will return. #bestbreakfast #chicagorestaurants #chicagofoodspots #foodcritic #hashbrown #homemadesalsa #hiddengemrestaurant

To begin Nathan our waiter was superb. He was very attentive and had great energy. The restaurant its self is pretty small. My rating has nothing to do with the service. It's based strictly on the food. I had the egg nachos with steak. The egg nachos reminded me of a egg pizza with tortilla chips cooked inside. The steak came on top with sour cream and what tasted like old guacamole. They were out of jalapenos. The steak was very tough and under seasoned. Nathan recommended the rojo salsa which definitely helped with the flavor of the dish. My friend had their strawberry pancakes. The strawberries are cooked inside the pancakes personally I wasn't impressed, but she liked them. Honestly, I tasted her turkey sausage and even that was lacking flavor. I did like the rosemary potatoes.
