One Star Review I honestly don't know where to begin. From the moment I walked into this so-called "restaurant," I knew I was in for a nightmare. First off, the owners are absolutely disastrous. Rude, entitled, and dismissive of anyone who dares to voice a complaint or even ask a simple question. It felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by letting me eat there, rather than the other way around.
The food? Terrible. Whoever's in charge of the kitchen clearly has no idea what theyâre doing. What was supposed to be a âsignature dishâ ended up being some inedible, flavorless mush that I wouldnât feed to my dog. Overcooked, underseasoned, and frankly, an embarrassment to anyone who has ever tasted actual good food.
To top it all off, the prices were astronomical for what you get. I can't believe I spent that much money on a meal that felt like a slap in the face.
The icing on the cake was the behavior of the owners. They were not only rude and unprofessional but also engaging in activities that could only be described as criminal. I witnessed them harassing another customer who dared to complain about their food, and I have no doubt there were shady dealings going on behind the scenes. They were also caught stealing personal propertyâyes, you read that rightâand then tried to act like nothing happened. Absolutely appalling.
Iâm really glad Google hasnât bowed to these entitled thieves and is keeping all of the real, honest reviews upâno matter how much they try to claim theyâre false. You canât hide the truth. Donât waste your time hereâdo yourself a favor and go anywhere else. Youâll get better food, better service, and your...
Read moreI Ate there for breakfast. Have to admit, I really enjoyed the food and the service. That is until the end. My friend and I were discussing a business matter we were planning to collaborate on and one of the Waite staff came over with a very hostile face and tone in his voice and said, "are you done! Do you need anything else!" To me that said, now that you have eaten and paid your bill now get out so we can get someone else's money. I may be wrong but how it was done and the tone in his voice and also the heads that turned to see what my reaction would be tells me I was correct in my assumption. For that reason I gave 1 star. If I could have given none I would have. With all of the tension that exists in this city that I love so much, a negative reaction by me would have made the situation worse. So I walked away never to return. I have never written a Restaurant review but this one I had to write. If there had been a posted sign stating a time limit or anything about time it would not have been an issue. But there wasn't and there is an issue. Hashbrown, thanks for the shabby treatment. I'll stick to Les Brothers...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked into Hashbrowns, we were greeted with warm, genuine hospitality that set the tone for an outstanding brunch experience. The menu is packed with comforting favorites and creative twists on classic breakfast dishes â and yes, the hashbrowns truly live up to the name! Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, theyâre easily the best Iâve had in the city.
I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, and it was phenomenal â hearty, flavorful, and generously portioned. My husband had the chicken and waffles, which hit that perfect sweet-savory balance. The coffee was strong, fresh, and refilled often, and our server was attentive without hovering.
The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, with a cozy neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger just a bit longer. Whether you're a local or just visiting Chicago, Hashbrowns is the kind of place youâll want to come back to again and again.
Highly recommend â five stars...
