This place might be an overrated restaurant that serves tapioca milk tea and too bad noodle soup. I think the problem is they have too many items on the menu. Why would I come to a Chinese place to get myself Pho, Ramen, or any Korean or Thai cuisine? They may have some excellent chefs who can cook everything here but believe me, no one makes sushi better than a Japanese sushi chef. Quality is always over quantity. First of all, the bubble milk tea was over average as the Oolong and the green tea they were using are high quality, I think. However, the tapioca pearl itself was disappointing as it is tough, and not sweet. The Matcha drink and Avocado Custard Pudding Freeze were tasteless and terrible, respectively. There must be some other places in Chicago serving better tapioca milk tea. Second of all, the cane shrimp turned out pretty delicious. It was not too sweet as I was worried but tasty. The food was served five to eight minutes after ordering. Third of all, the noodle soup here was horrible. I have always kept in mind that the Chinese have great noodle soup. Thus, we ordered Free Range Chicken Noodle and Fishball Egg Noodle Soup. The broth is literally, definitely poor, bland, or no taste at all. No savory, no salty, no sweet, nothing, plain just like the boiling water of everything existing in the bowl. I was sure that the egg noodle is the noodle that is made with egg and wheat, yet the one we got was confusingly white and clear just like the white rice noodle. The price I paid for two bowls of hot noodle boiling water plus a dish of sugar cane shrimp was $38, not reasonable whatsoever. Probably, the food was better in the past as many of its customers said, though, the food quality of this very moment...
Read moreTERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered crab ragoons. I couldnt finish them and asked for a carryout box. The guy took it to the side of the counter and used his bare hands to put my crab ragoons in the box. His hands were definetly not clean. Also, as i was leaving a guy was mopping the the doorway. It was near closing time, but they were not closed yet and people were still eating. It was -1 degrees outside and i thought my bus was coming so i missed it and walked inside joyees once or twice to get warm. The guy mopping got frustrated with me walking in and he started saying things in his language. He had a very aggravated tone. I'm pretty sure he was saying rude things about me. I didnt appreciate that especially since I was a paying customer and it was -1 degrees outside. I think i deserve the right to come in the building...
Also my friend just told me that there was A COCKROACH in her menu and they just took her menu and put it with the rest of the menus. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE UTTER UNCLEANLINESS AND RUDENESS that this joyee displays. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO HERE. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE COMING BACK! I was a frequent customer, but you...
Read moreI’ve been to this place multiple times, and unfortunately, the experience is consistently disappointing. The food isn’t very flavorful, the portions are overly large, and the prices feel unjustifiably high, at times, I’ve even wondered if we were being overcharged.
What really ruins the experience, though, is the service. The server always seems to rush the entire dining process. From the moment you sit down, he hovers impatiently, pressuring you to order right away. On our most recent visit, he misunderstood our order and brought the wrong dish. Throughout the meal, he kept returning to the table—often unprompted—watching us closely and interrupting our conversations to try and pack up our food before we were even finished eating. It felt intrusive and uncomfortable, like we were being pushed out before we were ready.
The rushed, overly attentive service, combined with underwhelming food, makes dining here more stressful than enjoyable. Honestly, the experience gives me indigestion. I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are better options out there with better food, better service, and more respect for their...
