Stumbled upon this place while waiting for our Breakfast restaurant to be available. I love juices/smoothies and thought this place was going to be like Jamba Juice (which I also love) but it was far superior. I don't even like kale but they had samples of a jalapeño cheese kale crisp (and my stomach is super sensitive to jalapeños) but in spite of this, I tried the crisps. Very delicious it is a leaf and it tasted very earthy but I would definitely eat those as a snack if I had to. Also, my stomach was not bothered by the pepper either. On to the smoothies. I'm very picky and opted for the make your own type deal and again, was very skeptical while looking at the mandatory mix-ins, and saw algae and I was kind of grossed out and cynical. I think I chose mango and pineapple for the other flavors with apple juice as my mixer since I'm not a fan of dairy (like yogurt) or dairy substitutes. I was again skeptical because I thought the apple juice would make the drink too sugary and defeat the purpose of the nutritional value. Though it is pretty pricy, after I took the first sip, I immediately was sold and bookmarked the place on Google Maps. I literally watched the guy juice everything in front of my face (that part took a while, not complaining). It was very nice to see what he was doing and that everything wasnt from a bag, box, or can. Highly recommend if you like smoothies and juices. Especially since you can tailor it the way you want, which, I found hard to do at some other places because they only offered things that they had set up on the menu. Great customer service...
Read moreFirst time here, and I regret to say that the smoothies were rather disappointing. I had a custom made smoothie and the black phoenix, and they both were extremely, extremely watery... I couldn't taste any creaminess from the avocado or thickness from the black Phoenix. My custom also had large pieces of ice that were half blended into it. And nearly 30 dollars for 2 smoothies? I definitely won't be coming back.
P.s I decided to update my review as I cannot respond to owner comments. Thank you for reminding me of my order, but I do remember it. Unfortunately, I know that if you add a good amount of ice to any beverage that has fruits or veggies, it won’t be watery or room temperature. I’ve made smoothies at home using roughly the same ingredients as my custom and it wasn’t nearly as watery. But, if that was the case for my custom... what of the black Phoenix? That had no modifications to it.... and it was just as watery as my custom. I’m not going to lie guys.. these are pricey. And I’ve had better quality organic smoothies in the city for less than half of what you charge. If your prices are so high, the least you could do is try not to subtly blame me for my poor quality smoothie. Like I said, the Black Phoenix wasn’t ordered any differently than how you make it, but it was still room temp with pieces of some nuts. And that’s overlooked? I’m sorry, but you’ve definitely lost...
Read moreHigh way robbery! My experience at Juice Rx was confounding. On the one hand, I enjoyed my smoothie and avocado toast order. On the other hand, I felt taken advantage of as a customer. When my order was rung up, I was surprised at the high total. I requested a receipt to take a look. At the bottom of the receipt (photo attached) was a $3 charge for "high-rate." I asked what this was for and the attendant informed me that this charge was because I ordered at the store. I'VE NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE. This was perplexing to me. Keep in mind that I was not informed of this surcharge prior to paying, nor was there a sign alerting customers. Furthermore, there are tables and chairs inside the store - which supposedly means that customers are welcome to order and eat their order in store. So why charge for ordering in-house?? The best I could say is don't order in-house, call your order in instead. Otherwise, you will be subjected to hidden charges when you pay. This was my first time at Juice RX and I will not...
