I wish I could give a zero-star review if Google allowed that!
I am beyond disappointed with my recent experience at Diptyqueâs Chicago boutique. What was supposed to be a joyful and meaningful shopping trip for my upcoming wedding turned into an upsetting encounter due to the rude and dismissive behavior of Steven, the salesperson.
Back in August 2024, my fiancé and I decided to wear Diptyque fragrances for our December wedding. After thoughtful experiences at their Dallas and Chicago locations earlier in the year, we chose our scents and planned to gift them to each other during my visit to Chicago this November.
Unfortunately, Stevenâs unprofessional and unpleasant attitude ruined the experience. From the moment we arrived, he was dismissive and unhelpful. Despite repeatedly explaining that we had already chosen our fragrances for this special occasion, he kept pushing his own recommendations and rushed us through the process with no effort to provide a positive or celebratory experience.
The final straw was when we requested engraving and gift wrapping for our wedding. Steven argued with us, dismissing our purchase as not being a "real gift," even after explaining that these were wedding presents for each other. His behavior reduced my fiancé to tears, forcing us to step out of the store. When we returned, we were met with the same unprofessional attitude.
This was not the level of service or care I would expect from a prestigious brand like Diptyque. Itâs disheartening to know that a brand I once admired does not value its customers or their special moments.
Despite loving the fragrances we purchased, we have decided not to use them for our wedding and will be going with another brand that values customer experience. We will not be returning as customers to Diptyque and will be sharing this upsetting experience with friends and family.
A luxury brand should embody both quality products and quality service. Unfortunately, Diptyque failed on the latter, leaving us deeply...
Read moreFirst of all, I have to say, Diptyque is one of my absolute favorite brands. If youâve never tried their aromas, they are on the pricier side, but trust me, thereâs a reason for it. The quality is extraordinary. From the candles to the home fragrances, sprays, and soapsâeverything in my house, I want it to smell like Diptyque. My personal favorite is Baies (their signature scent), and itâs just out of this world.
On top of the incredible products, I have to give a special shout-out to Dylan, the store manager at the Chicago boutique. Dylan is exceptionalâknowledgeable, personable, and always welcoming with a smile. Heâs the kind of salesperson that makes you want to buy everything in the store! Not only is the boutique itself beautifully designed, clean, and inviting, but Dylanâs customer service is truly second to none. He knows the products inside and out, gives fantastic advice, and genuinely connects with customers.
If youâre looking for a luxurious addition to your home or a memorable gift that will leave a lasting impression, I highly recommend visiting Diptyque in Chicago. Itâs an experience you...
Read moreWorst experience ever. Never have I felt such obvious racism in any store. I was a traveler visiting Chicago for the day, and since I live near the Magnificent Mile, I made the 20 minute drive to this store to pick up Christmas gifts for myself and my friends. I never thought I would experience such differential treatment. First of all, my boyfriend (also Asian) and I did not receive any WELCOME reception when we entered the store. I thought it might be because the clerk was with someone else and didn't have time for me, so I wandered around on my own for about 6 or 7 minutes. At that point another couple of another color came in. Not only were they greeted with smiles, but a clerk immediately came over to greet them and recommend products. I felt deeply insulted at this moment and just left. Unsurprisingly there was no goodbye greeting either. Thank you diptyque for discouraging me from buying this brand for Christmas gifts for myself and my friends, as well as ruining my good mood and wasting 40 minutes...
