We saw the advertising on the window and we decided to book for an experience for a group of four.
On our day we arrived a few minutes early and there were ready for us.
The place is welcoming with its large windows and the place is spacious and they have plenty of tables and chairs for a small to a larger group.
In the front there is the register as well as products to buy already made like candles, scents among other things.
On the candle making area, it is clean and organized; we got offered aprons and other things to get our experience going.
The experience started with a brief explanation then short after that we started to create our sugar skulls; they gave us plenty of things to consider creating our own piece of art.
After making our sugar skulls we made our own scented candles, we got to pick our own combination of scents to create our own. I felt this last part was a bit rushed but time was upon us so we had to get going.
Overall we had a great time I recommend it for a small or a large group and even just to stop by and buy some nice gifts for family and friends.
They were friendly, attentive and made us feel good about our work.
We are planning on coming back again as a...
Read moreWhile looking for things to do in Chicago, me and some friends settled on this as it was near a place we were going to eat at. First off, this place sells A LOT of different candles, soaps and lip scrubs that I loved. The smells were great and the shapes of some of the candles were cute. I'd take a look at it if you're looking for some different looking candles with a great smell.
I didn't come here to buy candles though, I came to MAKE one. The class is $55 a person and while a bit pricey, its about the price of a good 3 wick candle and you get to make it smell AND look however you want. There are 36 different smells and you can mix up to 2 of them. About 42 different colored vessels and there's botanicals, gemstones, glitter and seasonal stuff you can put in your candles as well. As far as I know, you can put as many or as much as you want in your candle. The whole process takes about 1 hour or so and you share the room with others who booked it.
It was fun making my own candle and you technically also learn how to make them. The instructor was very nice and attentive and I wasn't hassled for tips or anything...
Read moreMy partner made a reservation here as a surprise date for our 6th anniversary and I was so excited to see that it was a candle making class! However, my opinion soured quickly when I realized the unprofessional behavior of the people who work here. I have IBS and after walking to the store I really needed to use the bathroom. I wandered away while my partner checked us in and found a clearly labeled, accessible one in the back to use. He informed me upon my return that the cashier gave a snarky remark that “the restroom isn’t open to the public” and I “should have asked” before using it even though we clearly paid ($60 each!) for the class. It put a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the hour. The employee who led us through the class was at least nicer but would leave to use their phone in between steps to make the candles.
Everything else was okay. The store is clean and bright and there are many options of inclusion/scents/vessels for making your own candle. If we were to do this again I would try a different place with more attentive,...
