Sew Anastasia — Local services in West Chicago Township

Being neither an artist nor a crafty person, sewing seemed remote. However, after years of thrifting clothes and wishing I could mend items and learning more about the poor conditions of garment workers, I wanted to try sewing. A Google search led me to Sew Anastaia studios. After watching some of her YouTube videos, sewing didn't seem so remote. I signed up for an open studio class intending to take only one and contuine at home if I felt compelled. That was years ago. In signing up for classes, you have access to a professional who can answer any question, show you any technique and, more importantly, make anything seem possible. Though I still grow frustrated with my mistakes, Anastaia really does believe that her students can create. Her patience and encouragement helped me make a summer dress wardrobe and most recently my engagement dress. After thinking one class would be enough, I'm overjoyed to be a regular in the studio and have gained a skill that is both tranquil and challenging. I have brought my friends in, signed up for both long and short term workshops and developed long term creative goals all because Anastasia makes sewing approachable and rewarding.

Fantastic classes! Wear your own me-made garments! I am reviewing Sewing 101 and Open Studio classes. I came to Sewing 101 without any previous sewing experience and learned a wide variety of technical skills to help me sew and alter my own clothing. Topics covered included hems, zippers, ruffles, buttons and more! The smaller class size also allows for one on one guidance from Anastasia, a fashion designer with over 20 years of experience who is excited to share her knowledge and love of sewing. In open studio, I took the concepts learned in Sewing 101 and applied them to my own self-paced projects. It was amazing using the studio’s sewing machines, sergers and other tools to create a polished garment. And Anastasia and George were readily available to offer advice and instruction to help me accomplish my project goals. I requested a replica of this sweater (worn by Wesley, of Star Trek TNG) only 2 weeks before Halloween, and I actually worried that it might not be enough time for such a specific request. But Anastasia ordered all the fabrics and had it to me 2 days early! She welcomed me into her cozy studio for measurements, and I was greeted by the warm smell of a million spices from the business next-door, and a very sweet kitty! When she had started working on it, she sent me progress photos. And when I came to pick up, she had me try it on and made adjustments so it was fit exactly to my likings. I had her take in the waist, because I’m tiny and like it SNATCHED. The adjustment was done in literally 20 minutes. The quality of the garment is excellent.
