Margie's Candies — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

Let me just start by saying this is going to be a long one. We entered the building and explained to our waitress that our baby has severe food allergies. There was a worker(wait til later to find out who she is) that even went out her way to show us the allergen labeling for a vanilla ice cream and was aware of my son’s allergens. After them telling us that there is really bad cross contamination and theee could be chances that nuts could end up on his plain vanilla ice cream we spoke to our waitress and told her we have a safe ice cream that we brought if it would be okay to give that to him since the rest of us could eat perfectly fine with no allergies. We got the okay from our waitress to go ahead. We placed an order for the rest of the family. Later when another employee with water came to our table she told us we are not allowed to give our son the safe ice cream we had brought him. Come to find out this was the supervisor aka the same lady who showed us the allergen labeling for the ice cream that I mentioned earlier! So she was aware of the situation. We told her we got the okay from our waitress to feed it to him and she went over to our waitress and she yelled at her for her allowing her to ignore their policy of no outside food. I over heard her say that she felt sad that our youngest wouldn’t be able to enjoy a treat due to his allergies and the cross contamination. So because of that our waitress then later on came back to our table and handed us our treats with an attitude. Mind you…we would have never stepped foot in here or sat down if we didn’t get an okay from staff to give him the treat. But we got the okay just for them to turn out to be nasty to us for their lack of communication and lack of empathy from the supervisor. Now I understand our waitress was irritated with her supervisor to talk to her like that. I don’t blame our waitress at all. The supervisor ruined my whole experience. Ruin my older son experience who saw for the first time someone deny his brother a treat that is safe for his health to consume. Later on my mother in law went to her had a conversation and the supervisor apologized to her, not to me or my son, and went on to say she was embarrassed how she handled things and decided to pay for our treats. The lack of communication between the staff is insane. The waitress overall was amazing. Went out her way to ask for allergens. Went to check for allergens. And then the supervisor ruined it for all of us. I will never go back. Regardless of the supervisor trying to fix the problem she gave the wrong person the apology and she didn’t want to show her face to...
