Disappointment doesn't quite capture the experience we had at Nisos Prime on New Year's Eve. Arriving just two minutes after our 8:45pm alloted reservation (after calling to inform them we were running just minutes behind), we were met with cold dismissal and utter disrespect from both the host and manager to see our table giving up im front of our faces.
This wasn't a casual Friday night dinner. This was a carefully planned New Year's Eve reservation made well in advance, a night meant for celebration and enjoyment. What we encountered instead was a masterclass in unprofessionalism and bad customer service.
The initial host, Alexa (or Alexis?), greeted us with curtness bordering on hostility. Upon politely requesting to speak with a manager due to her dismissive and disrespectful attitude, we were subjected to more delays and interruptions. The "manager," a Hispanic woman whose name escapes me unfortunately, somehow managed to surpass her associate in both rudeness and lack of empathy.
Long-winded monologues gave way to abrupt cut-offs as we attempted to explain our situation as we called ahead. Despite remaining calm and respectful throughout, we were treated like inconveniences rather than valued guests.
The most baffling part? Despite our clear frustration and pleas for a resolution, they refused to cancel our reservation on OpenTable. This left us stranded, unable to rebook elsewhere on a notoriously busy night. Essentially, they punished us for their own mismanagement and blatant disregard for our time and celebration plans.
We left Nisos Prime feeling cheated, disrespected, and utterly disheartened. New Year's Eve is supposed to be a time for joy and togetherness, not a night ruined by shoddy service and unprofessional behavior.
We found ourselves scrambling to salvage our evening at another restaurant, thankful for their understanding and accommodating staff.
To anyone considering Nisos Prime, a word of caution: save yourself the frustration and disappointment. Look elsewhere for an experience that matches the occasion, one where courtesy and professionalism are treated as ingredients just as crucial as the food itself.
Let this be a lesson to Nisos Prime: disrespecting your customers and disrupting them is a recipe for disaster, not a successful business model. Learn from your mistakes and prioritize basic human decency alongside your menu options. Otherwise, New Year's Eve might find you with even more empty tables than...
Read moreThis review is in regards to my second visit to this restaurant my first visit was for my birthday back in March and I loved it . The atmosphere and ambience of that restaurant is beautiful due to the long wait we were invited to speak easy which was amazing with great service .So I decided to bring my best friend here for her birthday last night I made a reservation and I had to wait for 40 minutes for my seat. Once seated we were left alone for a long time no bread and butter was brought to our table our waiter came apologize for the long wait asked us what we would like to eat because the kitchen was closing so we were rushed to put in our order we ordered two fillets crab legs lobster tails lobster macaroni and cheese mashed potatoes and broccolini. my friend and I only received our steaks and mashed potatoes and broccolini. I asked our waiter are we supposed to receive bread and butter at the beginning of our dining experience and we were also missing our lobster tails our crab legs and our lobster macaroni and cheese. he brought out our items about 15 to 20 minutes later by then we were already done eating I actually told him he could keep the lobster macaroni and cheese which was the last thing to come out because we were wrapping up. he still proceeded to bring the lobster macaroni and cheese which looked very un appetizing unlike my first visit. I paid about $238 for our dinner and I left with no tip given due to bad service and a very long wait. it was my best friend's birthday as well all of the other guest received a complementary birthday dessert and a candle and celebration and my best friend received nothing. very sad. Once exiting the restaurant we sat outside where there was seating and the waiter proceeded to come outside and have a back-and-forth harassing conversation as to why I did not leave him a tip and I told him exactly why nothing left out and he had a full fledge argument outside of the restaurant in regards to why I did not leave him a tip there were security guards outside they did not proceeded to him nor escalate the issue . I do believe our waiter was named Ron if I am not mistaken but I will be calling the restaurant to have a further conversation with the manager in regards to proper customer service and employees not being intoxicated when serving customers. this very much saddens me because I really don't know if I was a victim of racism or him just being intoxicated. I very much wish I'd took her...

TLDR: There are so many great restaurants in West Loop, and Chicago in general; I'd skip this one until they figure out how to properly book and staff the restaurant. We waited for 50 minutes past our reservation time for our reserved table to become available. They also turned the music off and basically shut down the restaurant, turning lights up, and doing end of day procedure, while we were waiting for our dessert, which was part of a 4 course prixe fixe menu we had already paid for.
More context: Our reservation was 1030pm. We were finally seated at 11:20. This was for New Year's Eve, so we obviously expected to be seated and into the meal before midnight. We had prepaid $198pp ($150 for dinner plus auto added gratuity, tax, etc) for a group of 8 people. That is almost $1600. When I checked in with the host at the 40 minute mark (11:15pm) they told us one round of drinks would be comp'd for our troubles. By the time we were seated we had people in our group that were extremely disappointed. We had people in town visiting and people in from the suburbs. We were expecting a night worth about $200pp. I asked to speak to a manager and they did apologize and did end up comping all drinks at the end of the night. This was a nice gesture, and we appreciated it. We also understand it's not the staff/server's fault we waited 50 minutes for a table we paid for, and then basically got kicked out while waiting for the final course. I am assuming that the timing issue was due to the kitchen + whomever is in charge of timing course meals.
The real issue here as far as I can see, is that whomever is in charge of reservation planning has no idea what is actually going on at this restaurant. It took almost 3 hrs to get through 4 courses. If you're going to stack reservations like crazy, I would expect a table time limit to be enacted. This was a ridiculous use of time. I don't plan...
