A Hidden Gem for Sushi Lovers – A La Carte Delight at the New Omakase Spot
I had the pleasure of dining at Omakase Box's Grand Opening night, and even though I opted for the à la carte menu, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality—owners Andrew and Jane were incredibly sweet and genuinely welcoming, as were the host and the rest of the staff. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between cozy and refined, making it an ideal spot for an intimate dinner or a quiet night out.
I started with a few small plates: the Edamame tossed in house furikake was addictively flavorful, and the Goma Greens—a colorful mix of shisho, assorted vegetables, avocado, goma miso, and ginger mayo—were fresh, creamy, and beautifully balanced.
The Nigiri was the star of the night. I tried the Uni (Hokkaido sea urchin), Otoro (super fatty bluefin tuna), Hotate (Hokkaido scallop), Sawara (Spanish mackerel), and Sake (Ora King salmon). Each piece was expertly prepared with melt-in-your-mouth textures and pristine quality. The Otoro and Hotate were especially memorable—rich, buttery, and absolutely decadent.
I wrapped up the meal with a couple of Handrolls. The Negi Toro with bluefin belly and wasabi salsa had just the right kick, while the Spicy Tuna with bluefin, negi, and pickled onions packed bold flavor without overwhelming the freshness of the fish.
Overall, this spot is a fantastic addition to the city’s sushi scene. Whether you're in the mood for a full omakase experience or just want to explore à la carte, the food, service, and ambiance deliver on every level. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreAs very close neighbors, we were excited for the opening of this place for months. We did the 15 course omakase 3 days into their opening and my husband and I were so impressed with the food and service. Jane was the sweetest and most friendly FOH manger who seemed so excited to be there, and chatted with everyone. The chef was also really skilled and also seemed happy to be there, which definitely rubs off on the diners.
The fish was all melt in your mouth delicious and fresh tasting, and there was a great variety of flavors and types of fish. The chef said it's almost all from Japan, but with some from New Zealand or Mexico. The dessert was a delicious slice of basque cheesecake which was totally unexpected. We did not leave hungry.
For non chef's table dining they have a 7 course nigiri flight option which seemed like a really good value we will for sure try sometime. Such a great addition to the neighborhood, we will...
Read moreThe restaurant is currently BYO with a $20 bottle/$3 can fee. We enjoyed the A La Kase, which features 10 nigiri and a mini don buri. Presentation and flavor combinations were traditional, however we found balance to be inconsistent; some of the pieces with spice tended to overpower the fish with too much heat while the fattier cuts may have needed a little more soy or garnish to brighten the flavor. (Perhaps this is personal preference.) The handrolls had the perfect amount of rice to fish to seaweed ratio. Service is attentive. I expect the flow will only improve as they finesse some kinks. Solid...
