I was excited when this place showed up since I used to occasionally order from the old Pizza Hut that closed down on Western. That place was hit or miss, but when it hit (usually when ordering late at night)...MY GOD was the food good.
So this challenger shows up, there was some expectations to say the least. My appetite with the help of a 35% off coupon led me to order a large stuffed crust pizza with pepperoni, ham, and mushroom. I threw in some garlic knots, lemon pepper fries & Cinnabons for good measure. Prices were still surprisingly high for Pizza Hut with those items coming out to $36 even with 35% off.
The manager of the restaurant called and said it would take about from 1-1.5 hours for delivery and I obliged. The food arrived lukewarm about half an hour later though so don't know what was going on. Presentation wise things looked good. This place seems to pile on the ingredients without you having to ask for extra which is always great.
Once I started eating though...things took a turn for the worst. This was quite possibly the worst pizza I've ever had. The sauce was extremely metallic tasting, overpowering everything. The mushrooms didn't help either and tasted old. The cheese and meat were non-existent flavor wise. The fries were decent, but soggy. The stuffed garlic knots were super oily, very salty, and barely had any cheese inside. The only superb item was the Cinnabons (I suspect because they aren't pizza hut exclusive items) which were fluffy, perfectly cooked, and tasted like heaven. The Cinnabons come with a decent amount of cream cheese frosting on them, but I was smart enough to order extra frosting so I could smother them with goodness.
Overall, the food quality leaves a lot to be desired here. You can tell whoever is cooking the food is an amateur chef (I'm not expecting Chef Ramsey at Pizza Hut anyway) as the little things like adding sugar or orange peels to canned sauces to tone down the metallic flavor were not present. Even just knowing how to properly prepare standard Pizza Hut menu items would've been nice. Due to the location it seems you might be paying a premium too which is just not worth it.

Read morePlaced my order online like 5 min received a call from Alberto stating since its big order they need min 30 paid with credit card. I had put pay cash at store for pick up. After insting online it days nothing about that, if that was the case I would have paid online. He then went on to say oh ots because your a ne w customer. So I got annoyed and went off on him again nothing online and why did it matter I had ordered before. I confirmed him ill be there in 10 min. He kept saying unless you pay no we will not start your order. Then what's the point to order ahead. He then left me talking and started mumbling in Spanish as if I didn't understand. Telling his coworker Le cuelgo el telefono esta loca y cancelo la orden. Meaning should I hang up on her shes crazy and we just cancel the order.I replied in Spanish telling yea cause I don't understand what you just said. He then placed me on hold. I hung up the manager supposedly answer. Again annoyed she was like you're not letting me talk. They literally just made me feel horrible Like I told her next time just mute the phone. And please note online unless paid no order will be made. Called my next nearest pizza Hut after placing my order again online. She made me feel so much better. Stated they didn't need no payment I could pay as soon as I get...
Read moreI had the goal of carbohydrate loading prior to a long training run for the Chicago Marathon. Little did I know that I would order from Pizza Hut after a few searches for pizza restaurants within Humboldt Park. Prices were what kept me from ordering at those places, and the interest in ordering somewhere I had not eaten before. Looking online I was a little disappointed that there were no deals at the time offered at this location.
I ordered via the website online, then immediately headed out the door to pick my order up via takeout which was ready by the scheduled pick-up time. My order, a medium Detroit-Style Pizza topped with pineapple, was fresh and presented beautifully! And its taste was far from disappointing.
One thing I was not used to is the way the sauce is spread on top of the pizza, which is different from Jet's Pizza; Jet's Pizza is the only style of Detroit pizza I have had prior to ordering this version. Other than that, I had a satisfying ordering experience at this Pizza Hut, and would surely order from this location in the...
