I adore local small business coffee shops. I go out of my way to support them over major chains. Called ahead confirmed this places closed at 1pm. Drove 48 mins from Oâhare airport to check them out. I walked in at 12:53pm to the barista serving a customer a latte. She then walked over to me. I confirmed I spoke with her over the phone and asked for a quad â4 shots of espressoâ. Hannah responded by telling me their bar was closed and how itâs takes 20 minutes to shut down the espresso machine. Even though she had just handed a customer a latte. So did the customer receive old espresso if it took 20 minutes to clean and shut down the bar? I looked at my phone it was now 12:56pm still not 1pm. As a business owner myself this would be my recommendation:
Whatever time you stop serving should be your posted closing time. Otherwise if you say you close at 1pm then serve until close. Itâs a coffee house not a steakhouse and youâre telling me you shutdown your bar 20 minutes before closing? Clearly this small business doesnât need our support if they can afford to turn customerâs away 20 minutes prior to close especially for something as simple as a shot of espresso. Hannah eventually begrudgingly offered to make an exception for me and make the espresso. However, her attempt to turn me away claiming the bar was closed for 20 mins after watching her serve another customer moments before did not make me feel welcome. I will support a business that appreciates its customers no matter what time they come in. So PSA THIS PLACE CLOSES AT 12:40PM NOT 1PM.
Parking is sparse. And the guy who initially answered the phone was annoyed with my asking if their coffee is...
Read moreSip of Hope is not your average coffee shop. It is a warm, inviting space that not only serves up delicious coffee but also advocates for mental health awareness and support. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that the shop exudes.
The decor is cozy and comforting, with inspirational quotes and messages about mental health displayed throughout the space. The staff are friendly and approachable, creating a safe space for customers to come and enjoy a cup of coffee while also engaging in important conversations about mental health.
But what truly sets Sip of Hope apart is their mission. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase goes towards supporting mental health initiatives and resources in the community. This commitment to giving back and raising awareness is truly commendable, and it makes me feel good knowing that my coffee habit is making a positive impact.
And let's not forget about the coffee itself â it is absolutely fantastic. The baristas are skilled and passionate about their craft, and you can taste the quality in every sip. Whether you're a fan of lattes, cappuccinos, or simply a good old-fashioned drip coffee, Sip of Hope has something for everyone.
Overall, I can't recommend Sip of Hope enough. Not only will you enjoy a great cup of coffee, but you'll also be supporting a vital cause and helping to break the stigma surrounding mental health. It's a...
Read moreI had no idea that I was walking into this space that was more than your avg. coffee shop. After a heavy week, I was looking for any old coffee shop simply to get me out of the house, and get some work done on my computer. Weâve all been there... when youâre in a dark funk, staying home and sulking in it can make matters worse. I passed this place on Fullerton and saw ppl inside with laptops and thought âBOOM, that looks like a good spot.â I was a little confused when the Barista asked me what brought me in to get caffeinated with them today. I rambled off some response about getting some work done for the work week ahead of me. He then told me what this place is all about and that every cup of coffee bought here goes toward suicide prevention and mental health education. Immediately I felt safe, I felt understood, and I knew I had found my new coffee spot. In my astonishment, I told him Iâve had a really heavy week so Iâm elated to be here. He said, âitâs funny how you can randomly stumble upon exactly where you need to be.â Truth is, we really are in this together. And here, it all starts with a cup of coffee and a...
