My fav taco joint to get Carne Asada tacos, I’ve been coming here since high school and I’m in my mid-30’s now. I maintain that these are the BEST tacos de Carne Asada in the North Side of Chicago.
They do other dishes well, dishes you might find at any other taco joint, and they fine but the PRIMARY reason to come here are for them CARNE ASADA, be it tacos/burritos/Gorditas, etc.
They’re authentically Mexican and a neighborhood spot, family-run with a solid staff.
It’s authentic, quick tacos, un-pretentious, nothing fancy, working-man’s, feed-you-good Mexican food and I love it. This food is NOT for your Instagram stories or Tik Tok dances: this is GOOD FOOD. The people who KNOW good Mexican food, know this place.
I’ve been going here since I was a kid and I plan to keep going for as long as they stay open.
Tell your friends (but don’t tell too many people, I don’t need this spot getting so crowded I can’t come in and eat anymore).
1000/10, would...
Read moreFinally, high quality meat on tacos. The steak (Asada) tacos were tender and delicious. The al pastor were flavorful as well! The salsas are also super delicious and prefectly spicy. Yes, the place isn't well decorated as other restaurants, but the people are kind and friendly! Did not get the chance to take pictures because the tacos were just too good! Although I am used to corn tortillas (el milagro), I did enjoy these tacos very much. Surprisingly, the tortilla did not take too much away or alter the flavor of the meat. FYI: order up front before sitting down for faster service. Just one recommendation for the kitchen: the tacos de chile relleno need to be left to rest after cooking to get rid of the excess oil. If not, the tacos end up too oily. TLDR: I definitely will be coming...
Read moreWe love this taqueria!. Grilled arrachera (skirt steak) tacos are the best. Not greasy tacos. They have tripe, tonge, and pastor meat. Even chile relleno (stuffed with cheese poblano pepper) tacos. Normal size tacos served on white flour tortilla you can add cheese to them. This is not a place with waitresses. Basically the guy that makes your food takes your order. Don't expect very detail customer service but the staff are nice. You walk to the fridge to get your beverages unless you want horchata water then he will get it for you. This is a place to just go eat and leave pretty much. Once you're done, walk to the cashier and tell her what you had. They dont take credit cards, just cash. Tip is not included in your check but they have a big container where you can add some...
