Food was good but the women at the front counter were rude and it was just a bad first impression of the restaurant. The gentleman who took our order was very sweet.
Edit: My apologies, I’ll go into more detail. First time leaving a long review…
I remember seeing a sign about this location opening soon and I was really looking forward to trying it out since I’ve only gone to Pho viet and dukes thai for pho and the photos made the food look really good. When I came in yesterday for the first time I wasn’t sure if I had to sit myself down or be seated so I just walked to the counter and looked at the menu. The woman at the counter never greeted us coming in or even when I greeted her she never responded and just stared at us.. I guess she got tired of us standing in front of the register and finally told us that we could just sit down at a table. A gentleman came to take our order and he was very nice. When he gave us our drinks he said that we had free refills and so when we finished our drinks we wanted a refill, but no one came to check on us so we weren’t sure if we just had to go to the counter to get it. But when we did go to the counter the lady was not happy about filling the cup. It just made us feel uncomfortable at that point. After we finished, I left a tip on the table and went to the counter to pay. I guess the lady wasn’t too happy I was paying with cash and huffed when I didn’t leave a tip at the counter.
My apologies if I came off very negative and I did not wish to offend anyone. As someone who works in customer service I understand that we can’t always serve with a smile on our face and we just have rough days. I really do understand that it’s not easy. But it was mostly just the attitude and body language from the worker that just came off wrong and sorta ruined the first time experience. My point is that a please and thank you...
Read moreMy husband and I were finally able to try Pho & Banh Mi tonight after weeks of seeing the “coming soon” signs. He had the Bún Thịt Nướng and I had the Phở Tái, Nạm, Bò Viên. We ordered take out because we were having a busy night. Our food was ready right when I walked in and was still hot when we sat down to eat at home — I also appreciated how they packed my to-go phở. It was delicious! Far exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself is bright, spacious, and clean.
I saw another commenter compared this restaurant to Pho Viet… We have enjoyed going to Pho Viet in Five Points for many years but their hours and the parking can make it difficult to visit on a week night. Pho Viet by comparison does have a wider menu but their restaurant has been around for many years while Pho and Banh Mi has just opened. I personally feel like the portion sizes, parking, spaciousness and cleanliness of the restaurant are better at Pho & Banh Mi. The food is excellent at both. We will continue to visit both restaurants but the location, parking, and business hours will likely result in us visiting Pho & Banh Mi more frequently.
We are very excited to have this restaurant in West Columbia and look forward to going back to dine in-person. Welcome to WeCo, Pho & Banh Mi!! (No photos because there were...
Read moreI have been a returning customer since they opened, and have never been disappointed by anything I've ordered. The Vietnamese Spring Rolls are a wonderful option for a light meal, and the Chicken Pho is delicious for any occasion, but especially good if you aren't feeling well. For a Vegetarian Option, their Bun Chay is a favorite, especially the pickled vegetables.
The specialty drinks are also very good, and I was very excited when they added the Crystal Floating Boba as an option. I especially love the Lychee Tea and the Taro Milk Tea as a nice treat.
The people inside are kind, and the first time eating there one woman was kind enough to show us how best to eat Pho. It's so nice to be greeted so warmly!
As for the Atmosphere, it's a bit nostalgic to step inside because the location used to be a buffet I would eat at all the time growing up. It's very nice to be able to walk inside and still get...
