Black Cat Ice Cream Valley Junction — Restaurant in West Des Moines

🍦✨ Black Cat Ice Cream is my new happy place!! ✨🍦 I stopped by today and WOW — not only was the ice cream absolutely delicious, but the vibe of the whole shop is next-level cute! 🐱💖 The walls are covered in adorable black cat art (seriously, it’s like a feline dreamland), and the energy of the space just makes you smile the second you walk in. I definitely need to bring a picture of my own black cat next time!

I got the cookies and cream, and it was creamy, flavorful, and totally crave-worthy. Every bite tasted like pure joy in a cone 🍨😻 The woman who helped me was so kind — she even offered me a small sample and told me that cookies and cream is one of their best flavors (confirmed!!).

One of the photos I’m sharing is of my black cat at home, and the other is me proudly holding my ice cream in front of the shop! This place truly feels made with love — from the details to the atmosphere, to the friendly service and amazing ice cream. I can’t wait to come back, try more flavors, and maybe even bring some framed pics of my cat to match the theme 🖤🐾

My sons and I stopped for ice cream at the Valley Junction location for my birthday. It wasn't our first visit to Black Cat but was at this location.

The parking was challenging just as it is at the original location. However, the line is much shorter. That was a bonus.

The interior is cute with lots of customer black cat pictures. We own a few ourselves though have never submitted pics. It's fun to look at the wall of voids.

The had different offerings than the original location though similar themes that are rotated. They had dill pickle flavor that day. I sampled it. I was surprised how much was gone. It was not my thing. I appreciate their creativity.

They were spot on as usual. All three of us agree that this is the best ice cream period. I am far from trying all of the flavors but haven't ran into a "bad" one.

The staff is always very friendly & goes out of their way to make sure guests are happy. The atmosphere is relaxed & friendly. Everyone is always just chill & happy. It's ice cream. It's a good thing.

This location can be so hit or miss that it's hard to know if I want to make the effort to go or not.

The ice cream is always phenomenal, though expensive for the volume you receive. If pints were $9/single scoop cones were 50 cents cheaper, I think you would have me sold.

The the wait time can be 35 minutes or nothing, depending on the day. I thought they might have more help since reducing to one location in the middle of summer. It would be better if they had some kind of surge time tracker so you know how long you might be waiting after looking for a parking space in the area.
