My wife and I stopped in for lunch today. The server was very helpful and polite while explaining menu items as it related to vegetarian and vegan ingredients.

The menu listed my selected dish - Spicy Basil - consists of a choice of meat (chicken, pork, beef, tofu, or mixed vegetables) sauteed onion, bell peppers, carrot, and spicy chili sauce and basil leaves. I selected vegetables as my choice.

When my Spicy Basil arrived (see attached photo), my wife and I exchanged puzzled looks. I received the main ingredients, and I guess, vegetables - because a single green bean lurked under the onions. Some shredded romaine was the salad, and a scoop of Jasmine rice accompanied the dish. The food was good, but even for a lunch-sized menu and price, it was easily the skimpiest portion I've ever received in an Asian restaurant in the metro. I say this in comparison to similar establishments - Thai Flavors, Tsing Tsao, etc. - when considering lunch menu, price, and portions. All places are different, I agree. And in that regard, Eat Thai Thai Eatery, was different and notable. It's notable for the smallest portions I've ever received.

Our server checked on us, asking if everything was ok. I didn't know how to respond; the service was good, the food was ok. Since it was our first visit, we didn't know what to expect; upon reflection, however, I wish I'd asked if this is their typical portion...

We had another great dinner at Eat Thai tonight. The food was wonderful as always. Sorry, no photos because we were hungry. We always get the Fresh ‘n Gingerly with chicken, 2.5 stars spice level. So good! We also ordered the crab delights which are the best crab rangoons you’ll ever eat. They’re not shaped like regular crab rangoons and come in a very thin wrapper so they practically melt in your mouth. They are little purse-shaped bundles of goodness. We love them so much that we call them Heavenly Delights instead of crab delights. They are served with the best sweet sauce. Try them. You’ll thank me later (and never want to eat the regular kind again).

My husband also got the Tom Kha Kai soup at 2.5 stars spice level. That’s his favorite. We’ve tried other dishes there and they’re all great but we keep going back to the Fresh ‘n Gingerly because we love the ginger flavor so much. You really can’t go wrong here. All of their dishes are so wonderful. We’ve tried a lot of Thai restaurants locally and honestly feel this is the best Thai restaurant in town.

Plus, Aom the owner, is always so nice and friendly. She also owns the two Ocha Bubble Tea & Dessert Cafes in Windsor Heights and Ankeny. Tonight she told us she’s going to be opening a dessert cafe inside Eat Thai soon. She gave us a sample of her green tea molten lava cake and it was SO good. I can’t wait to try more of...

Let me start by saying our server was GREAT, & Very Friendly!!! I ordered Thai Tea, & my Mother stuck with water. I even got a second Thai Tea, as it was the best thing that we were served there, it was very 👍🏼🥰When our food started to arrive that’s when it started to go downhill🙄 We got Ragoons they were fresh , & crispy, but just had an odd/sat too long before being cooked taste 🥴Then we each ordered Tom Kha Kai/Gai soup @ a #2 & #3 heat, with chilies 🌶 on the side… even with the chilies the Tom Kha Kai/Gai was SO BLAND, NO FLAVOR, & this is our go to when we eat Thai, so we Know what flavors it Should have, & it was VERY LACKING, & then when we told our server, she apologized, but nothing was done like comp a tea or SOMETHING, also no management ever came to speak with us, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE!!! My Mom didn’t even ask to take the rest with her she was so disappointed, I knew I could at least fix it so it actually tasted like it should, so I took the majority of my large bowl with me, & when I got home I added the proper ingredients, & it was Great, but when you go out to eat & pay that much for a meal, it shouldn’t have to be taken home & FLAVOR ADDED!!!!! We both often say “Don’t Stop There Unless You want To Take The Soup Base Home, & Add The Flavor!” As we drive by!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING, AS WE ARE HUGE FANS OF THAI FOOD!!!!!🙄😢WE WILL NOT BE DINING THERE...

Sadly disappointing. The Panang Curry was more like Panang Soup. It was so watery, as if they are just adding water to stretch the pot and save money. There was very little veg, and it was the little cube carrots and peas like it's just from a frozen bag. Taste is decent. Got Thom Yum soup. It was offered as 32 ounce large option. The 32 ounce container was just over half full, so we didn't get what was advertised. The soup had a ton of oil and the container was melted like they poured boiling soup straight in the plastic container. Can't be that healthy. Rice portion seems small as well. I usually can only finish half the rice. I think they shrunk the container size. Overall food was decently flavored, but the low quality preparation and presentation issues reduce the experience to 2 stars. Would be more acceptable if the prices were low, but this was quite expensive for a small strip mall restaurant. $32 for the curry and large soup.

Thai restaurant right off of 22nd and University. Nice little place. Family owned with a traditional menu. Wife got Spicy Basil chicken with excellent flavors and a heat scale of 4. Gotta sày i expected it to be hotter. It was delicious though. I got Red Curry chicken heat scale of 3, and it wasn't spicy enough either, but it was also excellent with plenty of Thai flavors. I have had coconut based Thai food In the past, this was the tastiest by far. We both got hot chai tea which was not a house blend but was a higher end tea company that was also excellent. We enjoyed the meal so much we ordered spicy Thai noodles to take home. Food portions were more than enough and with dumplings as an appetizer (tasty also) and two teas, we spent $70. I usually complain about prices this high at restaurants , but I'm not because the food was that good.
