Scooter's Coffee — Restaurant in West Des Moines

Here's the thing, I normally don't do these fancy coffee shops but I had taken the wife out Christmas shopping & had a bit of the holiday spirit. She wanted some hot cocoa as it was a chilly day so I said let's go try Scooter's since we were right by this location. I ordered from the drive through & a very nice young gentleman took my order & had me pull up to the window where he proceeded to tell me my total for two 16 ounce hot cocoas was almost $9!!!!! I very reluctantly paid the total because I figured maybe this would be the best darn hot chocolate I've ever had in my life... I was wrong. It wasn't horrible by any means but it wasn't impressive either. It was just okay, kind of bland. After this I was much less in the holiday spirit & felt kind of like I was robbed by a very friendly teenager. The service was very good which I absolutely can not fault them for but the product fell flat, let's just say this was my first & likely last visit to a Scooter's Coffee Shop until I win the lottery or have a long lost rich uncle leave me a sizable...

It appears as if I'm not the first person coming to write a review about the rude staff. I'm not a picky coffee drinker, I just came in to get a couple coffee and an iced drink. The iced drink was on the website but the employee said he would not make it, he would only make a hot or blended version. It was a very simple drink, there's no reason he couldn't have poured it over ice. I changed my order. This was an annoyance but not the nature of my complaint. This person was just in general very smug and unpleasant. Sorry, but you don't get to be a smug barista when you work at a chain called 'Scooters'. The icing on the cake was when he called out my order for my 3 drinks and there were only 2. I politely asked where the other was and got attitude for expecting all of my order. I have gone to this location on mills civic for 4 years almost everyday. I get the same thing everyday but in the last year this location has gone down hill. There are several morning employees that are very rude when you try to order. There is a girl with a long blonde ponytail that answers and it’s like she hates her job makes you feel like you should just leave. More than half the time my drink is incorrect and I have paid a different price for my drink everyday even though I have never changed it. I can understand price increases but this has been a different price everyday.
