I had 2 bad experiences with Crumbl over the weekend. First, I had made arrangements several months ago for a donation (of the day old cookies) to be picked up on Saturday. The West Des Moines store despite repeated confirmations with the manager somehow double booked the donation and it had already been picked up by another organization. I am very appreciative of Crumblβs willingness to make donations to community causes and food rescue efforts, it was very disappointment to lose out on our donation. Unfortunately, this is the second time in a month that an organization I am affiliated with ended up losing out on a donation because the manager double booked the day old cookies. I feel bad complaining about a potential donation, but we were counting on it to help feed 900 hungry teens and had intentions to purchase additional cookies based on how many received. I have advise our group to bypass Crumbl next year all together. Too much stress on an already stressful day.
Frustrated and in need of LOTS of cookies for our After Prom, we decided to try the Ankeny Crumbl. Another volunteer put in an order online for 3 dozen, and I later put in another order for 2 more dozen. Both orders went through the online system without a hitch. When my friend when to pick up the 5 dozen cookies at designated time. There were approximately 40 people in the store, some in tears because the online ordering system was not working properly and only putting out every few orders. We needed up with only the 2 dozen order I put in and the promise that the 3 dozen order would be canceled. We ended up getting the rest of our cookies from...
Β Β Β Read moreRandomly found out that we got a Crumbl Cookies while visiting another venue. The shop was packed so we went to a bar and then back to Crumbl afterward. It turns out they've only been open for over 24 hours! The ordering process was extremely simple, and self-explanatory. Apparently, the Honey Bun was previously listed as "sold out" but the staff let us know that it was available again. We got a 4-pack which included the Honey Bun, Cowboy, Chocolate Crumb (Oreo), and Raspberry Doughnut cookies. We sliced each one into 8th's and sampled them all. Every single cookie was airy, and not overly sweet. Something I look for when visiting places that specialize in desserts as I'm someone that doesn't have much of a sweet tooth. The cookies held their shape but were not too cakey, compact, or doughy like a lot of other local cookie companies. Another facet that I really appreciated. We also got the Raspberry Cheesecake ice cream, and let me tell you...I am not a huge ice cream fan but I almost ate the whole tub! The Raspberry Doughnut was my favorite cookie. Flavorful, but not too sweet. Airy, but sufficiently solid. This is truly how I felt about all 4 cookies but the Raspberry Doughnut was my favorite flavor combination. MUST TRY!!! The staff was spectacular and honestly, I can't wait to go back! They're not doing online orders their first week so be prepared to go in! The front-of-house is limited so you might be waiting outside. Dress accordingly! We spent about $18 (including tip) on 4 cookies and it was WORTH...
Β Β Β Read moreIf you are a delivery driver, do not accept orders from this location. If you are looking for other employment, you should apply because I'm fairly certain they just hire anyone they find on the street. The entire lobby was full and instead of acknowledging the handful of drivers that were waiting and could immediately vacate the premise, they instead chose to blatantly (eye contact followed by them talking to eachother in Spanish) ignore all of them and twiddle their thumbs in the back. I waited 10 minutes to get my order when it was literally sitting out on the table sealed from the moment I walked in the door. If your employees are too fed up to spend 5 seconds asking for a name, set up a pickup rack maybe? The one saving grace was the teenage blonde girl who came up and started handing out orders, effectively ending the rush in under a minute. Oh and mind you it was pouring out so it was humid and nasty in the lobby, and their parking lot is disproportionately tiny, so the other walk-in customers were also having their experience dampened because of the whole ordeal.
Now, as a consumer, their cookies are alright but this location is also extremely inconsistent. You could order the same exact thing on different days of the week and get two completely...
