Front the moment I walked in there was a different feel about this hotel as compared to even the most elite tier Hilton properties in other cities.
A line at the front desk feels normal. They go so far out of the way to ENSURE that your stay is what you expected, and then go beyond the bounds to make sure it's what you WANTED that you are entirely happy to give a few extra minutes to whoever is making a fuss ahead of you.
Be friendly to the staff, speaking from experience it not only makes them light up with a smile, but on long term stays they will help your coffee addicted needs with a laugh and a bag of k-cups.
The rooms are the golden standard I judge every other hotel by. Good water pressure on all but the upper fringes(which have their own charm), unquestionably the best beds and bedding I've slept in, 55" HDR TVs that allow you to connect a laptop are the icing on the business trip cake(if you can fiddle with it enough to connect).
If you're looking for a romantic getaway - this is the only place in Des Moines I would trust. Clean, private, and so, SO beautiful.
Let's drop into the amenities - absolutely the best I've ever used. Period. They rinse clean, smell is faint but present, and doesn't have the air of dousing yourself in perfume. Seriously, the amenities are better than I buy at home.
Going into the cons - there really are none. Nothing besides the inconsequential. First time I booked the batteries in the thermostat died - got a new room. Second time I booked - shower head sprayed weird until I ran my finger over the head to dislodge the midwest minerals. Third time - I didn't have a private butler and someone to click the mouse for me.
I have been to dozens of hotels across the US and Canada and this really is the gold/platinum/palladium standard until you get into 'need to show off your money' territory. And even in that category, not many hotels have made me want to...

I travel all over for work and I usually stay in one specific hotel when I travel to IA. This time, I tried something new so I could check out a different tapestry of Hilton. As a Hilton Honors member, I have thoroughly enjoyed Hilton hotels and will continue to stay with them. However, I will not return to this hotel. First night, no big deal, slept great and went downstairs to eat breakfast- which by the way you have to pay for even the buffet. That wasn’t horrible, but I’ve stayed at plenty of Hiltons with the same Buffett spread and that comes with it. Went back to the room, and got ready for work. Upon returning, I decided to stay in my room and catch up on some emails from work, being out of town they sure add up. After sitting there in the bed I had to go downstairs and grabs some Tylenol from my car and I my face itched. I went to go scratch and I had two tiny bumps on my face on my right jaw line. Didn’t think anything of it, thought maybe mosquito or even a stress pimple. Unfortunately, after going to bed and waking up, I had three more on my face, three on my shoulder, two on my right hand by my knuckles and three on my left hand by my knuckles, two on my left upper arm and one on my right arm. Sadly for me, I’m hyper allergic to bugs and bites so mine have swelled and filled with fluid. I have never in my life encountered bed bugs, so I had no idea that’s what it even was. Upon arriving home I had completed enough research that I was a pro.. stripped down in the yard and threw all my clothes, shoes bags anything I took to that hotel and immediately ran it full two cycles on the hottest setting in my dryer. Since being home, I have not had anymore bites show up, just still dealing with the current bites that itch and are swollen. Highly disappointed, and not pleased to spend my Mother’s Day in pain and...
