For a restaurant to make it the food and service have to be great. The food here does all the heavy lifting. Serves was good kinda slow for the amount of people. The atmosphere is centered around sports and a younger crowd. But the food is the star and makes it a 5 star rating. Bang for the buck is spot on. I would highly recommend and will go back.

Poutine and Cajun Chicken Alfredo is highly recommended. I'd recommend most items from this restaurant. Scott has an excellent all around fusion menu. This is a very family friendly restaurant. Location makes it convenient for hockey tournaments, office meetings, concerts, and other events and attractions.

I had heard good things about Bar Down. My wife and I decided to check it out. Nice selection on the menu. We have since gone back a few more times. Everything we have ordered have been very good. It is a bar, however kids are welcome with adults.

Good: Fantastic poutine. Best in the F/M area.

Bad: Burgers are really meh, like the beef was under-worked.

Really bad: The service. Omfg, it's so slow. We were there for 1.5 hours because we didn't get to order for 25 minutes. It's not that the servers weren't trying, but the layout of the floor really separates the kitchen from the bar from the waitstaff. Like, everyone seems to be doing their own thing. If you've worked in bars before, you just know when things are gonna flow, and this place did not have it. However, if they doubled their servers, maybe service would happen in a reasonable time frame, but I was there on a Saturday afternoon, so they should've had their A-team on duty.

Anyway, yeah. A lot of people say this place is really good, and, like, really? No. Absolutely not. There are so many better bar & grills around here. I strongly reccomend giving this place a pass unless you live for poutine (like I do). In which case, absolutely go because it really is the best poutine I've had around...

Horrible experience! Unfriendly staff. We didn't get waited on. Waitresses kept walking past. After about 45 min. I had to go up to counter and ask if someone would take our order. Then my order was wrong and the blonde waitress blamed it on the cooks. Said it wasn't her fault!! So unprofessional. Needless to say. Last stop at the BarDowner. Never will step foot in this place again!!! Then I had to hunt someone down to get our bill. We could of easily walked out without paying as we were invisible! But we paid . Took us 3 hours to get each a sandwich and our bill was 50.00 for 2 sandwiches and 2 root beers. Never again!!!! If this was the last place in town to eat, we still wouldn't go in here. After my sandwich was redone, it looked like it was thrown together. Not a one of those waitresses gave a smile or were nice. They were rude and...

We went there on a Saturday afternoon to watch a bison game. The place was fairly busy but not every table was full. We ordered food around 1:45 p.m. and were rarely checked up on and had to flag down our server every time to get a drink. At around 2:30 p.m. we asked Can you check on our food? The server's response was well.....We only have one kitchen. Then she came back and said oh, it looks like you're the next one up. Fast forward to 3:00 p.m. We still don't have food. We then asked to just grab our tabs because our kids are starving and we need to leave and feed them. The server brings our tab and the food we hadn't gotten yet was on the tab. They eventually took off the food and we paid for just the drinks. I understand a backed up kitchen can happen but proactive communication and accountability can...
